Italics Song Lyrics

Kouga stood in front of the entrance to his cave, his arms crossed in front of his chest, the moon high in the sky above him. He could smell a certain white wolf princess of the north coming his way. Not long after he scented her, Ayame's red locks and emerald eyes appeared in front of him.

Ayame glomped Kouga's arm with a smile, "Kouga-kun, I'm here to make you keep your promise." Ayame said as she looked up at him.

Kouga growled and shook his arm to rid her from his arm, "I told you once Ayame, I never made a promise and I am making Kagome my mate." Kouga glared at her.

"But Kouga, you made a promise." Ayame pouted up at him with a soft whine. She was looking up at him with big puppy dog eyes.

Kouga threw her off of his arm and Ayame landed with an 'umph' on her back-side. "Get out of here Ayame, I told you I never made a promise." Kouga knew he was lying to her but he had already chosen.

Ayame shadowed her face with her bangs and she shook softly, "Fine, I hope your happy... I thought a promise of a Lunar Rainbow was never broken." Ayame stood up and bolted, Kouga's eyes widened. As Ayame ran by him the scent of salt filled his nose, and he could see the tears rolling from her eyes. "Shit, AYAME!!!" Kouga yelled after her but she had already started down the mountain. Ayame was right, a wolf tradition was to keep a promise that is made on the Lunar Rainbow because it was very rare to see it. A soft rumble was heard threw the sky and it began to rain, quickly dampening Kouga's hair and fur, "Ayame." Kouga said softly in the wind.

I must look just like a fool

here in the middle of the road

standing there in your rear view

and getting soaked to the bone

this land is flat as it is mean

a man can see for a hundred miles

So I'm still praying I might see

the glow of a brake light.

Kouga looked down the mountain and tried to see Ayame, her white fur was getting farther away. 'Please Ayame come back, I was wrong.' Kouga thought desperately to himself.

But your wheels just turn,

down the road ahead

If it hurts at all

you ain't showed it yet

I keep a lookin' for

the slightest sign that you might miss

what you left behind

I know there's nothing stopping you now

but I'd settle for a slowdown.

Ayame kept running though she didn't stop to even look back, Kouga was hoping to even just see a glimpse of her emerald eyes. Kouga never saw the glimpse he wanted thought and he lowered his head in shame.

I'd settle for a slowdown

come on just slow down

I'd settle for a slow down.

Kouga bolted after her now, the jewel shards in his legs making him go faster then a normal wolf demon. "Ayame!" Kouga yelled loudly over his whirl winds, Ayame let out a soft yelp as she tripped over a rock.

Kouga caught Ayame just before she hit the ground, he brought them down so they were on his knees and Ayame was in his lap. "Kouga, why are you here?" Ayame whimpered out softly as she buried her face into his shoulder and cried, beating on his chest armor with her fists.

Kouga growled softly in a manner that would calm Ayame, grabbing her wrists to stop her and she looked up at him. "I made a promise, didn't I?" Kouga said softly as he pulled her forward and caught her lips in his, Ayame's eyes widened in surprise before sliding close. They kissed for a short while before he pulled back, Ayame laid her head on his shoulder once more and sighed. "I made a promise." Kouga mumbled softly into her hair, kissing her head gently. The two sat there, the rain slowly stopping above them, and in its place another Lunar Rainbow occurred.
