John Heard that Anna was coming back in an hour, he hurried to make it till she got there. John waited in the hall a couple of minutes Before she got there.
"Come here" John said smiling.
"I'd better get on" Anna answered while taking a step bck.
"Kiss me, please"
"John… I can't, it's just too much. It's not you, I can't let you touch me because something happened and I want to leave it like that" She turned around slowly, started to walk away.
"Anna" She took one more step. She felt how the tears were pushing to come out, trying the best to keep them inside but she couldn't.
"Anna, please" She turned around and he could see the tears under her eyes. He just wanted to go to her and hug her, tell her that everything will be fine.
"Oh darling" John went to her, took her face in his hands and took away the tears with his thumb.
"I'm so sorry John, I'm.. I'm so tired of this.."
"Shhh, come, let's go to the courtyard so we can talk"
She followed him out and sat down on the bench as he sat down next to her.
"I want to tell you, so much. I'm just afraid you will-"
"Judge?"
"No, if I tell you, will you promise not to do anything that would risk what we've built up together? I mean something that would risk our life together"
"Okay"
"This is important to me John, do you promise?"
"I promise"
"Okay, Do, do you remember that time I told you I fell and cut my lip?"
"Yes, I remember"
"I lied to you John, I didn't fell"
"What do you mean?"
"I was attacked by a man" Anna looked so scared and John could tell by her look on her face that she was affraid of John's reaction.
"what? Who did this? Anna, who?"
"that's the thing, I don't know who it was, a man broke in and was waiting for me down here, a stranger. I don't know who it was, there's no way of tracing him"
John took Annas face in his hands. Gently touching her cheek.
"oh my darling, but.. why wouldn't you tell me?"
"because i knew the suffering would bring you and I.. I'm spoiled for you"
"You are not spoiled. You're made higher to me and holier because of the suffering you have been put through. You're my wife and I have never been prouder nor loved you more than I love you now in this moment"
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, I've never been so sure of anything in my entire life"
Anna went to John's arms, staying there in minutes. Then she let go and looked him in the eyes.
"John, I'm so sorry for everything, I do love you so much and I did never stop loving you. Staying away from you was the hardest thing I've ever done"
"I really thought you didn't love me anymore, that you regretted that you married me"
"There's one thing I can never regret in my life, and it's that I married you."
"I love you Anna, how am I worthy you?"
"I ask myself that every day, oh John?"
"Yes?"
"You can kiss me now, please John, kiss me" He kissed her, she started to giggle. She was so happy that he finally knew and she could finally be in his arms again.
