One major defeat from the super A.I. ROB, the Smashers found themselves in hiding in some house in the forrest. Samus and Link were busy chopping wood while discussing heir latest defeat and the status of their team.
"Ike didn't say where he was going for answers?" Samus asked.
"Sometimes my team mates don't tell me things," Link answered with a snark attitude. Link and Samus had often clashed when it came to team politics. "I was kinda hoping Ike would be the exception."
"Yeah, well in time," Samus added with a sigh of worry. "We don't what the Zelda chick showed him."
"I don't know what she showed you," Link fired back taking a swing at some wood.. "I just know it made you do something stupid."
Link moved the chopped wood into his pile and proceeded to place another on the chopping stump.
"Earth's mightiest heroes," he added. "Pulled us apart like cotton candy."
"Seems like you walked away alright," Samus added remembering their first major encounter with ROB. Link looked up at Samus with a flare in his eyes.
"Is that a problem," Link asked with a gruff.
"I don't trust a guy without a dark side," Samus added taking a swing at some wood. "Call me old fashioned."
"Well let's just say you haven't seen it yet," Link shot back with an angry look in his eyes.
"Little Mac and I have been doing research," Samus brought up.
"That would affect the team," Link said holding a piece of log.
"That would end the team!" Samus yelped. "Isn't that the mission? Isn't that the "why we fight?" so we can end the fight, so we get to go home!?"
Link ripped apart the small log with his bears hands in front of Samus in anger over her comments. Samus felt her heart rate increase for the sight of it. He looked back at Samus.
"Everytime someone tries to win the war before it starts innocent people die," Link said bluntly. "Everytime."
Samus just looked at him in shock and exhaustion over their heated argument. Things from this day on would never be the same between them.
