On Bella's 29th birthday, Edward gives her an old family heirloom. How does she react? She opens the box and lets out a gasp. "Oh my..." Short drabble. ExB.

Edward

"Happy birthday Bella!" I yell, entering our bedroom.

My wife smiles at me. "Thank you sweetheart."

I rush over to her and spin her around the room. "I love you, babe", I whisper into her ear.

"And I love you", she replies.

"I can't believe you're finally twenty nine", I say. "Remember when we met?"

"How could I forget?" she sighs. "It was twenty years ago, wasn't it?"

It was. It was her ninth birthday birthday and my new best friend- her older brother- Emmett had invited me to the party they'd held in their backyard. "I was thirteen", I say.

"One of the big boys", she giggles. "Oh God, you were so full of yourself."

"Eh, we were all like that", I reply.

"Not me."

Of course not. My girl was always unique.

"You were so silly", she goes on. "You were dressed in a pair of red cowboy boots, which by the way, your mother still has in her attic."

"What?" I say in alarm. "Mom has them?"

She nods conspiratorially. "I wanted Lizzie to save them so we can show 'em to our kids."

"You want to insult me in front of Nessie and Jake?" I pout.

The twins are five years old.

"No", she says. "I want them to know that their Daddy has no fashion sense, unlike Mommy."

I roll my eyes. "You're a girl."

"So?" she says in outrage. "So what?"

"You know more about fashion."

"Edward Masen, that's such a sexist comment", she says, throwing a light punch my way.

"Whatever", I say, pulling her close to me.

"Don't tell me you've got something planned for tomorrow", says Bella a while later.

"I won't tell", I say solemnly. Otherwise Mom will hang me from the fan, by my neck. She'll have my in-laws to help her too. They've been planning this surprise party for quite some time now and they'll be very disappointed if it's not a success.

"Edward."

"Bella."

"Tell me."

"There's nothing to tell", I say, kissing the top of her head.

"Are you lying to me?" she raises an eyebrow.

"Nope." I am but it's for a good cause.

"Here's your present", I say, tossing a neatly wrapped package to her.

"What is this?" she asks curiously. "I hope you didn't spend too much on this."

"I didn't spend a dime", I answer. "It's an old family heirloom."

She opens the box and lets out a gasp. "Oh my..."

"You like it?"

"I love it", she says, looking at the necklace from different angles. We both watch as the heart shaped diamond glimmers in the darkness. "Who did this belong to?"

"My father's mother, Esme", I say. "My grandmother." My dad, also named Edward, passed away before I was born. My Mom, Elizabeth- who prefers to be called Lizzie- and I lived with Edward Senior's parents: Carlisle and Esme Masen.

"It's beautiful", she says. "Wow."

"I'm glad you like it."

"How could I not?" she asks. "It's.."

"Go on."

"I don't know what to say."

"Say that you love me", I say softly.

"I thought you already knew that", she looks up with her long lashes.

"There's no harm in hearing it again."

"I love you."

Ah. Sweet music to my ears. "I love you too Bella", I say. "So much."

Sweet enough for you? I hope you like it. Please review if you did :)
