As I watch:
You alone were my first love,
You alone were my last.
I watch you smile,
I watch you laugh,
I see you cry all alone.
You watched her moves like a hawk,
You held her hands as you walked.
But you don't even look my way.
As you close your eyes and dream,
dream of past beloved, forever lost to you.
And I watched you stare into her eyes,
And I watched you cradle her lifeless form.
I cried, I wept for love,
to feel your soft caress,
upon my lips, upon my soul.
I ever dream about yout love.
But you have only eyes for her,
and your soul withers more each day she is away.
I watch you pine away,
For the flower girl's smile.
I watch you evermore,
from shadows of my heart,
I watch in sorrow,
I watch in death.
As everyday I see you hurt,
My soul wastes away a little more.
And every day you cast your eyes,
longingly upon her lonely grave,
I know your heart is hers,
I know your never mine.
I weep in solitude,
I cry forever,
I mourn alone.
And the planet taunts me,
Daring me to fly away,
Through air to lonesome earth.
I can no longer stay.
As I watch you die each day.
Gracefully I will fly away,
through bitter air, to unforgiving ground.
I will forever soar,
through blissful, silent memory.
And hide away from nightmares
Of never touching you again,
Of never feeling your smile again,
Of never loving you.
I say farewell for now my love,
And I watch my home return to me.
I feel the earth's remembered touch,
And I hear you cry my name,
And I hear you say goodbye,
And I hear your love's farewell.
