The Little Prince
In the woodland was Faline and her two fawns. In the mountain above their quiet little home they were watched by Bambi. He wouldn't know their excitement or their happy youth. He was the new Great Prince of the Forest. There were too many duties that he couldn't ignore. All of the woodland's creatures were in his care.
His father had gone ahead. The former Great Prince's hoof falls were growing alarmingly distant. Bambi wanted to stay but he couldn't help worrying. His father was old and he had heard rumours of old deer disappearing to go and die.
Bambi glanced up speculatively. He could see almost nothing of his antlers except for, perhaps, a slight shadow. It would be years before he had his father's impressive antlers. He was still young and he couldn't afford to let time go by. There was too much to learn.
He lowered his head sadly. To his surprise, Faline was looking up at him. She was beautiful amidst the greenery and graceful. In her current position he could only think of his own mother. She too had looked to the sky and had held a certain grace. There were only two he had ever seen with that grace.
Faline nodded softly and returned to doting on the drowsy fawns. Bambi slowly retreated from the scene. There was a sense of purpose and pride in his movements as he moved to re-join his father.
Author's Note: I'm a bit of a sap for Bambi. He's just really cute. That's why he's in here, where I believe he rightfully belongs. I have been wrong before though. There's no getting out now. So, yes, I had a look at the summary on Wikipedia for the two books. They sound interesting but I have no intention of learning that language. I've already got too large a list. Anyway, thank you for reading. I hope that you enjoyed this. I apologise if you are unsatisfied.
