PROLOGUE
Run. I must run.
That is my only choice.
I speed off towards the forest, the trees beckoning me with their wide arms and feathery leaves. Behind me, I can hear the first cries of despair as the tributes confront each other at the Cornucopia.
I jump at the nearest tree I can reach, climbing higher and higher until I was safely concealed in its branches.
This is good, I tell myself.
I hop easily from tree to tree, working my way deeper and deeper into the forest.
No one will find me, I tell myself.
I'm going to be safe.
