Sonic the Hedgehog wants to be the fastest racer in his hometown of South Island. But, with the National Racing Competition coming up and another hedgehog rumored to already breaking Sonic's record, Sonic must challenge that hedgehog, claim his record back, and find out the truth about his rival.

Chapter 1

South Island. The home of Sonic the Hedgehog and Dr. Eggman. And 2016's host of the National Racing Competition, held every 4 years. Hedgehogs from all over the world come to try out and compete against other fast and powerful hedgehogs. This year is Sonic's turn to shine.

It's been 4 years since Sonic tried to compete in the NRC. The last time he tried, he didn't get accepted to the competition. That's because the competition is very prestigious and competitive, where only the best and fastest hedgehogs compete. Even though the townspeople and his friends said that Sonic was very fast for a hedgehog, the trainers proved him wrong. Sonic wasn't as fast as people think he was. So, he tried harder and grew stronger for the last 4 years, practicing daily and eating a well-balanced meal. This was the day Sonic was waiting for.

The next day, while Sonic was drinking milk and relaxing in his house, Sonic received a letter in the mail from the NRC. The NRC asked Sonic to represent South Island for the year's National Racing Competition! Even more exciting, it was going to be held in South Island! Immediately, Sonic told the good news to all of his friends and family.

"Look! I finally got accepted to the National Racing Competition!" Sonic explained. "Even more, it's going to be held here this year! Aren't you guys excited for me?"

"Yeah!" All of his family and friends replied. "We're very proud of you and can't wait to see you in the competition!"

"Thanks, guys! I'll be packing up and be leaving in a couple days to go to the training center in Las Hedgehog! Don't worry, I'll be home just in time for the competition. Please continue to support me."

"Of course, we will."

A couple days later, Sonic officially left his home of South Island to train in Las Hedgehog for the National Racing Competition for 3 weeks. Anchor, the trainer announced their agenda and partners.

"Welcome to the National Racing Competition, the most prestigious racing competition in the world. You will be judged based on your speed and your sportsmanship. You only have 3 weeks to compete and then, after 3 weeks, the remaining 6 racers will compete in the real deal. You will be sharing an apartment while you're living here. I'll be announcing the partners for the apartments."

Sonic got an unfamiliar hedgehog as his partner, Gold Streak. Rumors say that he is a faster hedgehog than Sonic and is really well known in his hometown of the Green Hill Zone. But, he also likes to push his limits and doesn't care if anyone gets hurt as a result of his actions. Because of his fame, he got accepted into the competition.

"I'm Gold Streak, the fastest hedgehog in the world on the Hedgehog Book of World Records!"

"Name's Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog. Nice to meet you, Gold Streak."

"Same here, Sonic. I hope that we can be good friends."

"I'd like to see that. Let's go into our apartment."

Once Anchor announced all of their agenda, the constants headed to their apartments with their luggage.
