Matt lay there in pain...hardly able to move....breathing getting harder....the feel of the intense heat....surrounded by angry spirits. Really, he wasn't afraid anymore. He just wanted it all to be over. He didn't care how, just as long is it was soon.
Weakly he asks," Why....won't you leave me alone?"
It was more of a retorical question. He did not expect them to answer. They never spoke a word once. Not even Jonah. They probaly couldn't if they wanted to. Although that would have made the whole experience a lot easier.
"Because....If you went through what we had to...."
Wait! Did one actually just talk? Matt, looked up. It was a man spirit, and the one that had scared his mom when she opened that door.
"What do you mean?",asked Matt, who was getting closer to death.
"Why can't you just leave us be? Your just like that stupid boy, we destroyed years ago."
"Jonah...? Why did you kill him? He was being forced against his will to do those seances!"
"Don't raise your voice at us lad. You are lucky we allowed you to live as long as you did," remarked the same spirit.
"Yes, we realize, that Jonah had done all of that against his will. If he had not died, we may never had any chance to be set free."
"What....are you talking about....?"Matts vision becomes blurred for a second.
The spirit looked, "One night, we confronted the boy. We told him we had enough, and how we could never find peace. Especially if he kept that up. He felt horrible, and asked us what he could do. Three nights later....he knew what he had to do. He knew he had to die."
"And yet...you don't look very free to me,"said Matt.
"Something....went terribly wrong."
"Why'd you...kill him? He changed his mind,right?"
"He was scared. We were just helping him. Jonah is already dead. I'd be more concerned about yourself."
Matt winced in pain.
"Enough talk!" Another spirit spoke.
"He's lived long enough!"
The first one sensed Matts, heart rate weakening to its last final beats.
"Leave him....he doesn't have much longer."
Soon Matts mother entered.
