"Hey Joe," I said suddenly, wrenching my attention away from the television.
A recieved a grunt in response. Morelli's attention was on the baseball game.
"Remember when you were my FTA and you chained me to my shower curtain rod?" I asked.
Joe smiled. "Yeah. That was great."
"No it wasn't!" I yelled. "It was humiliating!"
Joe was smiling hugely now, and his voice hinted at laughter. "Maybe for you. I liked seeing you chained up naked."
I narrowed my eyes at him. "I should get revenge for that."
"You already did. You blew up my car."
"I did not! That other bounty hunter did!"
"It was your fault though. You were the target."
"And I saved you life by not giving you the distributor cap."
Joe snorted, but didn't respond.
"And then you had the nerve to throw my keys into the dumpster."
"Listen, Cupcake, you brought that all on yourself."
"And you kissed me against my will."
"I couldn't control myself after seeing you naked. And you didn't struggle, anyway."
"Hmph. I should at least have revenge for that."
"You locked me in a truck with two dead guys!"
"You work with dead guys all the time. That shouldn't have been a new thing for you."
"You're crazy."
"You're a pig."
"Faker."
"One time! I faked it ONCE!"
"It's enough to make you a faker."
I made a indignant sound. "I bet you've faked it more than once!"
"I have not."
"Sure."
"I might have faked it that day in the Tasty Pastry..."
I whacked him with a pillow. "You jerk! You asshole! I can't believe you just said that!"
He was laughing again. "Calm down Cupcake, I was kidding."
I glared at him, bradishing another pillow.
"Really, Steph, you were fantastic."
I lowered the pillow but continued to glare.
Joe resumed watching the ball game.
"You got me drunk in your kitchen with Peach Shnapps," I said to break the silence.
"You barfed on me!"
"You had to prove you were macho by arm wrestling with a transvestite!"
"You've blown up too many cars to count. And you blew up my garage. And you lied about playing the cello."
"I had my reasons."
"Nutty ones."
"Good ones."
"Stubborn woman."
"Womanizer."
"Not anymore. That ended a long time ago."
"Yeah, right."
He glanced over at me but didn't say anything. The silence stretched by. Someone hit a home run. Someone struck out. And the game was over.
"How about we continue this upstairs?" Joe asked, eyes locked on my chest.
"Sex-fiend."
He leaned in and kissed me. "I was wondering when you'd get to that one."
