Title: Vitality
Author: Autunm
Summary: Khaki's Challenge.....
They died instantly.
No mere words of sorrow and consolations could ease the pain of the sudden
loss. A moment ago, they'd been healthy and thriving little beings. A
second ago, their lives were ended in a senseless experiment of a vengeful
God.
No loving creator would have allowed two such fine specimins meet such a
heinous demise. There clearly was no God.
Tragedy and suffering had existed hand in hand with air, water, and food as
the necesities in life. The former two being adaptive in the fight for
survival. Living hand to mouth was all they had ever known. They'd
survived that way for several years. Time had apparantly taken it's toll.
The green skeletons left behind, where all that remained. Not even proper
shells of what they once had been. The surrounding landscape suddenly
seemed ugly and barren. Nothing in this world could replace the loss of the
two fallen angels.
Rising from the carnage, the resident weather goddess, straightened her
shoulders and waltzed into the mansion.
The unrelenting rain of the following week was a testement of how deeply
Ororo was affected by the loss of her two spider plants. For of all the
plantlife and flowers among the mansion grounds, those two plants, scrawny
at first, and later blosomming to maturity had always held a special place
in her heart.
It was clear to all, the grieving period would be substantial.
Rest in Peace.
