He used to smile.
He used to smile a lot, Sakura remembers. She walks towards the Konoha hospital where Lady Tsunade has still not woken up with a bouquet of peonies and hyacinths in her hands, and wonders what happened to the smiley boy she used to know.
Maybe, she muses, he'd died along with the rest of his family that night and so all that had remained was the lonely boy with the permanent glare.
Sakura misses him, the smiling and glaring boy, because even though he used to scowl and glare it's better than what he is now. Better than the stone expressions and soulless onyx eyes he looked at her with before he-
Sakura shakes her head. She doesn't want to think about it.
How far they have fallen. All she wants is to be a team again but that probably won't happen. There will be a battle, a great one with Naruto, Sasuke, Kakashi and-Sakura? Maybe? She couldn't even kill him when she saw him (although he had no qualms about doing so to her).
Sakura makes her way to the room where Tsunade is held (Shizune will probably be there still no doubt, Lady Tsunade is family to her) and continues her musings.
She probably wouldn't be able to fight him, wouldn't be able to face him or look at him the same way again. (Sometimes Sakura wishes she had been put on a different team because then this? This wouldn't have to hurt so much. And meeting Sasuke was probably the best and worst day of her life. She chooses to look at the "best" part though.)
Still, what Sakura wouldn't give to see him smile again. Just once, if Sasuke would smile for her she'd be happy at least a little bit.
She opens the door, that's just a bit open anyway and gasps. The flowers fall to the floor, forgotten. "Lady Tsunade!" she exclaims.
Well at least one good thing has happened.
notes: people have asked me why she shouted Lady Tsunade, well let me explain; This takes place right after the team goes looking for Sasuke and he nearly kills Sakura (twice), which means that it is also after the Invasion of Pein so Lady Tsunade is still in a coma at this time.
