My first poem and Severus Snape and Lily Evans fic ever. I think it is an interesting match, though I believe that Lily and James were soul mates. But Snape being in love with Lily would explain a lot of things.
Snape only ever insults James, never Lily, when he is talking to Harry. "Your father" this and "You undoubtedly noticed how much like his father he is?" that. Never does he mention his detestation for Lily. Why would that be? Why did Severus fight to hide the memory from OotP so carefully, it could not have just been because he was humiliated. This would just show how cruel James had been and throw it in Harry's face. I think it might be because he was angry after insulting Lily, or something like that.
Why didn't Voldemort just kill Lily mercilessly? He believed that Snape was on his side, and perhaps he knew how Snape felt for her, and he was a valuable Death Eater, even though he was a spy.
So sit back and enjoy. This'll probably be one of my only oneshots, just because it is a poem, and one of my few SS/LE fanfics, because the past is the past, and if they had a relationship, it was over like twenty years ago.
Unwilling Love
His eyes bore into hers
But by this intimidation she was not deterred
Her hair was as red and vibrant as a burning fire
And her looks of hate did not quell his burning desire
In his cloak of black
He watched her
She could not turn back
He was part of Lord Voldemort's precious flock
But why...oh why did this some as such a shock?
The battle waged on
There they fought
There they stayed
She could deny it naught
His debt would yet to be repaid
James fought nearby, but he could not see
The looks his lover was giving the enemy
She, naturally, wondered why?
Why was he with the Dark Lord, and why must here she die?
Her wand lay at her feet
And why was he being so discreet?
If he is to kill me, do it now
He could not
And he backed away
She would not die at his hand
This emotion came at him like a flood
How could he feel for this worthless Mudblood?
He could do nothing to deny this
How he longed for her touch
For her kiss
He told others differently
But when push came to shove
His ardent hate
Had turned to irreversable love.
Tell me what you think.
