Hey! I'm Caity. This is my first Hunger Games story and I'm so excited! Basically it's about Peeta on his first day of Kindergarten when Katniss sings the valley song. I tried to make Peeta sound young and cute. The lyrics to the song come from a children's song called Down in the Valley. I DO NOT own The Hunger Games or any of its amazing characters. I hope you like it!

All day long I couldn't keep my mind away from that little girl, Katniss, and her mommy. Why would she choose a coal miner, even if he could sing better than the birds, over my daddy? My daddy was the nicest, bestest person in the whole world! I walked into music class with my friend Delly and we sat down in the middle of the room.

"So, do you like school Peeta?" Delly asked, twirling her blonde curls around her finger. Delly and I were best friends. We always played at her house and her mommy would make us special snacks like fresh cheese and crackers and little bread chips.

"Yeah I guess," I said, my mind still on my daddy and Katniss's mommy. "It's pretty fun."

"Alright!" The teacher, a young lady who liked to smile, called out to us. The room grew quiet. "Welcome to music class! Now, who likes to sing?" She asked. It was silent. "Come on don't be shy little ones." She said gently. "Does anyone know the Valley Song?" I looked around to see a hand shoot up in the back of the classroom. Me and all the other kids peeked around each other to see the hand. It was Katniss Everdeen!

"I do!" she said a little shyly with all the eyes on her.

"Excellent!" The teacher called out. "Come on up sweetie." As Katniss walked up I watched her braids swing. She was pretty. Really pretty. Maybe that's part of the reason why her mommy loved her daddy so much, because he was pretty too. "What's your name?" The teacher asked.

"Katniss!" She said with a smile. I found myself smiling shyly when I saw her smile. She had a cute smile. It made the whole room brighter.

"Well Katniss climb up on this stool and start whenever you're ready!" Katniss climbed up on the chair and we all waited for her to begin.

"Down in the valley, the valley so low
Hang your head over, hear the wind blow
Hear the wind blow, dear, hear the wind blow
Hang your head over, hear the wind blow

Writing this letter, with but three lines
Answer my question, will you be mine?
Will you be mine, dear, will you be mine?
Answer my question, will you be mine?

Roses love sunshine, violets love dew
Angels in Heaven know I love you
Know I love you, dear, know I love you
Angels in Heaven Know I love you."

Everything was quiet. All the birds had stopped singing. It seemed as if the whole wide world had grown quiet to listen. I felt heat creeping up my cheeks.

"Wow Peeta," Delly giggled. "You're completely red!" I looked down at my desk, drawing scribbles with my finger.

"That," the teacher gasped. "That was wonderful Katniss dear! Thank you so much."

I understand now, why Katniss's mommy chose her daddy over mine. It was beautiful. She sang better than all the birds in the world. I couldn't get the sound of her voice out of my mind.

I knew then, that I was a goner.

Thanks for reading! I hope you liked it. Please, please, please review! I'll love you forever. Thanks again. XoXo Caity
