Probably shouldn't be starting a third WIP, but its winter, I have a TON of free time on my computer, I've actually already written a chapter for both my other fics, and my third and fourth youngest siblings have gotten into TMNT which means thats practically all thats on in my house lately, which means I've gotten back into it, and if you like TMNT you really can't avoid reading Sunny Lighter's Turtle Loops. Massive thanks to Sunny for giving me permission to do this!
'This' if you couldn't guess, is a rebooted Turtle Loops!
Now I don't have as much info on the comic worlds, having only ever read the first issue (it came with a book on the history of turtles I got a few years ago) but I have found several websites that let you read the comics on them for free, so I'll be going through those as fast as I can in order, as well as rewatching 1987, 2003, the movies, and hunting down the episodes of Next Mutation that I watched like...once four years ago x3
Anyways, I restarted it since Sunny got 52 chapters in and I don't want to completely fail at being able to reference all of the loops that happened in it. Which means there may be some repeated loops from there, but not intentionally, with the exception of some running gags that are far too good to let go. (Musical Torture of Bishop for one. Annoying songs, I need their titles.)
Requests are more than welcome, in fact, requests are requested :]
On to the fic!
1.1 - Mirage {Prime}
Leonardo was having a very strange day.
He was no Donatello, but he was pretty sure he'd just gone back in time. There was no other explanation. One minute he'd been going to bed in the lair, now he was blinking his eyes open, watching as the copycat turtles vanished along with the massive eyesore that was the Technodrome.
The Technodrome that he hadn't seen in almost eight years.
Oh yeah and he was a teenager again, and his ribs were pounding in protest from the giant robot Shredder thing squeezing him, which ruled out dreaming.
On the way back to the lair, Leonardo stuck to the back of the group, watching with narrowed eyes as his brothers acted...well like they had before all shell had broken loose. Not light-hearted and goofy like the pudgy copycats but...less stressed. Almost...happy. In their own ways.
Leo decided to just stay quiet and play along for the time being.
At least until he got home and saw Master Splinter alive and well.
Tears may or may not have been absorbed into his red mask as he all but tackled the ninja master with a hug, and then retreated to the safety of his room before his brothers could start questioning him.
1.2 - 1987 {Cartoon}
The defeat of Lord Dregg was an amazing thing. But during their time fighting him, the turtles had gotten scars.
And scars do not just get up and walk away in the night.
Except apparently, in the case of Donatello and his family. Donatello frowned as he studied his hand, which no longer held the burn scar from when he'd accidentally electrocuted himself working on the machine that had let him and his brothers remove the secondary mutations from themselves. It couldn't have been a prank, because none of the others knew about it. He must have been dreaming. Very, very realistically.
Donatello had been about to go to Splinter with his worries, when he'd caught sight of the newspaper that Leonardo was reading. 'Unusual Crime Wave Sweeps New-York', the exact same headline from the day the turtles had rescued April during her attempt to get an exclusive.
"You alright Donatello?" Michelangelo asked, looking up at Donatello from the table "You look like you've seen a ghost dude." Leonardo and Raphael looked up at Donatello, and he quickly stammered "I'm alright, just...stayed up a bit late working on my new...project." he stumbled a bit, seeing as he couldn't quite remember exactly what he'd been working on the day they'd saved April.
Splinter, who had been making himself some tea, looked towards Donatello with frown "Perhaps you should get some rest before training." Donatello shook his head "I'm alright, just thought I saw something that wasn't there."
This was totally a weird dream. Just play along, and eventually he'd wake up and the world would be back to normal.
1.3 - Movies {1990 Moves - 2007 TMNT}
Raphael woke up in the middle of a fight.
Normally, his dreams started with him swinging the first blow, fighting to keep his brothers safe.
They also didn't usually hurt, which meant that no this was not a dream.
This meant that he had somehow gone from smacking Mikey upside the head for crashing his skateboard in the lair, to in the middle of a fight, with no memory of what had happened in between.
There was something almost familiar about the fight, very weirdly familiar. Then his sai spun out of his hand and skidded into the shadows, and he realized just when he was.
Before he could go after his sai, his brothers finished their opponents, and he quickly roundhoused the punk in front of him. Leaving Leo and Mikey to tie up the street-brats, Raphael hung back, debating whether or not to retrieve his sai.
Then he remembered what had happened the last time he had time traveled, and though it pained him, he dropped into the sewers, leaving the weapon behind.
If he picked up his sai, he wouldn't be able to meet April, if he and his brothers never met April, who knew what would happen. He just had to bide his time until he could find the stupid Time Scepter, and get back to teasing Mikey about being afraid of birthday parties.
1.4 - Next Mutation {Live Action Show}
Mei Pieh Chi had been meditating in the privacy of her room only a few moments before. The next, she felt she had to open her eyes. Complying, she stifled a gasp as she saw her father, Chung I, sitting in front of a mirror. The mirror that led to the imprisoned Dragon Realm.
Venus did not know what power had led her to be living in this moment of time once again, but she would relish the opportunity.
Lunging forwards, Venus knocked her father out of the way before the dragon could kill her father with the flames that had ended his life the first time around. Her father was stunned, and remained immobile for a beat, before he shook his head "This is most troubling."
Venus nodded, and waited for her father to recover. She needed to get to New York quickly, to see if the others had also experienced this mystical reversal of time.
1.5 - 2003{Cartoon}
Michelangelo may not have been as smart as Donatello, but he still was pretty sure there was something weird going on.
For one, he'd been chilling in his room reading Silver Sentry Comic books two seconds ago. Now he was currently sitting upside down in the dark, 'chucks in hand, groaning as Master Splinter scolded his technique.
There was a sort of wooshing noise, and a beat later Don was crashing to the other wall.
Mikey frowned. He'd done enough time travel, and read enough comic books, to know that suddenly reliving the past was extremely bad news, but even more bad news was telling the people who didn't know about the past.
There wasn't enough light to see much of anything by, and then no light as Leo took out the candle Splinter was holding, just like the first time through, but Mikey was pretty sure none of his brothers were suddenly waking up in the past.
And Master Splinter...was currently congratulating Leo as the lights came back on. Yup, they were all totally unaware.
Or maybe he had gone into some weird three second coma, during which he'd lived seven years worth of adventures, and then woken up back in the real time. He'd read a comic once about that. Or maybe it had been one of Don's theories of time travel before they'd met Renet and Lord Simultaneous.
Either way, he probably shouldn't mention anything to his brothers until after they stopped Stockman and his MOUSERs, and got settled into the new lair.
At least that would give him time to figure out if he was crazy or not.
1.6 2012 {Cartoon}
Karai shot upright, eyes snapping open as the sound of a vacuum interrupted her sleep. It was the middle of the night, and she was in the heart of the Foot Headquarters. Who in their right minds would be vacuuming right...outside...of...what?
Now that she was fully awake and less 'WHyyyyyyyy' Karai very nearly died of shock.
She was not in the heart of the most heavily fortified building in all of New York, she was in a one-room apartment, with windows staring out over Tokyo.
Her first thought? I will murder whoever did this, bring them back to life, and kill them all over again.
Then, the rational part of her brain took over, and she realized that exactly three people knew where she had once lived, down to the room, and two of them were currently dead. At least they were supposed to be, because the third person who knew, while she was a magician, would never put Karai back here, and also how would she have managed to keep Karai unconscious while moving her from New York to Japan?
Taking a deep breath, Karai made her way over to the window, and stared out, searching for something that would reveal it as the hoax it had to be. And when she found who had done this, she would kill them in the slowest, most humiliating way she could find.
She ran her tongue over her teeth, relieved to feel her serpent fangs still there. Closing her eyes, Karai focused, and felt her hands shift into their mutated equivalent, and then back to normal. She was still a mutant, a fact that she wasn't sure was relieving or annoying. After all, if you're going to go into all the trouble of doing something this elaborate, why not do some sort of glamor, or temporary retro-mutagen?
Of course she would have gone into an even more murderous rage if she ended up dunked in some retro-mutagen now of all times.
"I need to get out of here." she groaned, pushing herself off of the window. Turning, she scanned the room, both delighted and confused to see her armor and weapons scattered about it. Gearing up, Karai waited until the vacuum noise had faded before opening the door. Expecting to see some sort of warehouse, Karai was slightly confused when she found herself in a hall.
Shrugging, she made her way down it, only to find the choice of stairs or an elevator. "Whoever is doing this, you are very elaborate." she huffed, choosing the stairs seeing as she would have better chance of escaping than if she went in the elevator.
It wasn't until she'd gone halfway across town that she saw an electronic sign displaying the date of the day Shredder had sent her to New York, that Karai realized that, no she was not being pranked, she was somehow in the freaking past.
Karai was now betting no longer on Shinigami, but on some failed experiment of Donatello's, which meant she had to get to New York as quickly as possible in order to yell at him, and perhaps drag him to Murikami's and demand turtle soup to force feed him.
1.7 - Michael Bay Movies
April blinked, and found herself suddenly NOT in the lair, enjoying some relaxing down time with the turtles, but instead...on the ground from where she'd fallen off of her bike.
Thankfully she wasn't on the main road anymore, and did not immediately become street pizza. Shaking her head to try and clear it, April took a massive breath of the cold night air, and tried to figure out why she was near the docks, at midnight, wearing nothing more than a thin jacket.
April frowned. Something about this seemed...familiar.
Then she heard angry, Japanese shouting, and her eyes widened. Running towards the fence, April jerked her phone from her hip and tapped it furiously until she got the camera open on the video setting. Hitting play, she stared through the screen as the Foot, who should not have existed, were taken out by shipping containers.
Again.
She had found herself back on the night she'd first gotten a glimpse of the turtles.
With no clue how, and no clue how to get things back to normal.
1.8 - Rise of the TMNT {2018 cartoon}
Leo most definitely did not let out a scream when he suddenly found himself plummeting off of a building at speeds that were absolutely not right for a turtle who had just tripped over a loose rock in the sewers. Then something around his shell tightened, and he was no longer shooting straight down, but at an angle, right over a building where -ohhhhh man that shady guy is seriously ugly and what is he even doing? -
Only to splash into a pool with his brothers cheering and whooping the whole time.
The force of their landing, although most likely mostly Raph's landing given the leader's insane size -especially when you compared him to like...Mikey. Yes ok fine they were different species, even if he and Donnie looked almost exactly alike, if you ignored the paint Leo used to decorate his skin, and the fact that Donnie was usually covered head to toe in tech - had resulted in there being no water in the pool anymore, thankfully none of them were hurt, and all the water soaking the floor around the pool. A good portion of it had probably gone over the side of the building too. Leo did NOT want to be the people down there.
Clambering out of the pool, Leo tilted his head as he glanced around him. Raph and the others were whooping, but Leo still got this sense that something was...wrong.
Maybe it was the fact that he'd oddly suddenly skipped through time? Was it forwards or backwards though? Or maybe he'd just had a very massive brain fart that resulted in him just completely forgetting the past...however many days it had been.
Probably not worth mentioning to the others anything about it he figured. It probably wasn't important everyone forgot stuff all the time.
It wasn't until he and his brothers went through the whole 'magical underside of New York' thing again, that Leo started to realize that yeah, there probably was something very big going on here.
And that's a wrap!
I kept most of the Anchors the same as in the original, though I did switch out 2003 to be Mikey instead of Donnie since the only Mikey anchor in the original was the SAINW. Speaking of, I only went for the primary universes that I have solid knowledge of for this chapter, next one will be bringing in SAINW (need to rewatch that ep), the Dark Turtles, The Super Turtles, and continuing on with these poor guys.
Remember to review, and to leave suggestions! Shell knows I'm gonna need em x3
