Life had never been fine and dandy for one Uzumaki Naruto but it seems even the dream world was rejecting him.
His life filled with constant rejection, Naruto was filled with dejection. The strong spirit barely held onto the life embers instead of burning strong so that he would grow.
He had become a joke to attract attention since he didn't know why they avoided him. Something was much better than nothing and the dreams were his solace but even they had failed him.
Naruto was just a 12 year old boy in the last year of his academics before he became a fully fledged ninja.
Now he was standing in a cave, inside a different body when he was supposed to be sleeping.
'What happened? Where am I?
Why is this dream so clear?
And do I really want to be someone else?' Naruto thought as he saw the sword in his hand and a torch. He could feel the difference in strength and realized the body was weaker, which confused him since he couldn't imagine being weaker.
'Who are the ones beside me?' Naruto mused as he moved forward slowly but like always, he was cautious and his senses were tuned to the environment. He kept his eyes and ears on people, waiting for them to acknowledge him and it helped strengthen his senses.
"Be careful" Naruto shouted as he turned around and threw the sword like a kunai at an incoming monster
Naruto was used to targeting the core points so it hit the humanoid monster in the chest. The sword impaled the green beast to the ground, giving the girl that was about to assaulted the chance to blast the rest with a fire ball.
But there is still one left and it had dagger, Naruto hadn't stopped moving and kicked it in the face. The force of the kick snapped its tiny neck but Naruto could still hear more.
"Retreat, there are too many" Naruto muttered, he was feeling scared as his body was feeling fatigue from the tension and lack of light
The three girls looked at him, the one with the glasses looked around, "We can do this, they are just goblins. Are you scared already?"
The girl with long black hair in a ponytail that was the fighter of the group also showed confidence, "We can do this, don't worry. Did Priestess affect you?"
The priestess had a fright and agreed with Naruto but the other two were sure of themselves.
"We are already too late." Naruto was not one to leave others behind and to him this was a dream, and these people were his friends. He would never let them go.
Naruto picked up the daggers as they were much better than the sword and dashed forward to fight, he killed the goblins like flies. They were flexible but Naruto was used to such movements and he could easily follow them.
The girls also fought without a problem but then a big problem appeared a giant goblin and goblin archers.
"Target its face, blind it with fire." Naruto screamed as he parried an arrow but in this enclosed space it cut his skin, causing him to bleed.
He felt the pain, the fatigue building up. The dream was like a nightmare and he didn't want to see the girls die, they were his companions.
Naruto dashed forward and used the wall as leverage to jump onto the big goblin from the side while slashing with the dagger, following that he jumped away while giving it a kick in the neck.
As Naruto was falling, he saw a fireball hit the goblin in the face causing it massive burns and didn't let the opportunity slip as he threw daggers at it.
Any weapon on the ground could be used so he utilized the rusted daggers and short swords of the fallen goblins.
"It's over" Naruto muttered in a fatigued tone after a while, his body was screaming for rest and air. He was bleeding many cuts as he had been unable to dodge efficiently because of his lack of skills and speed along with the enclosed space.
His eyes felt heavy and Naruto fell to his knees trying to catch his breath but he knew that was death was closing in.
'I am poisoned.'
The Priestess saw that he was in pain and hurried to his side as the girls were saved from the damage.
"Don't panic, I will heal you." She said and Naruto could see kindness in her that almost brought him to tears as she was acknowledged his presence
Naruto nodded and relaxed as he was enveloped in the magic but it was too soon and he heard the footsteps.
"Someone is coming" Naruto muttered and pushed to his feet, getting into a defensive position, ready to throw a dagger
Naruto and the others relaxed as they saw it was a man in silver armor with a torch coming towards them in slow but steady steps.
The man looked around the battlefield and towards them, "You did well."
The man said and Naruto felt happy at the praise, he felt a sense of accomplishment. As Naruto looked at him, the man walked to him and poured some liquid on his cuts.
"Poison" The man said and bandaged the cuts, after which he walked deeper into the cave
"Who was that?"
"He should be the person appointed by the guild to show us around. I believe they called him the Goblin Slayer." The Rookie Mage answered as she walked to Naruto
"Goblin Slayer" Naruto muttered in curious tone, he was the first person to have praised him so Naruto was very curious
'But this is all just a dream or is it?' Naruto thought before his eyes closed
Naruto fell of the bed and hit his head on the floor, "Damn"
Naruto felt drowsy and stood up from the ground, putting his blanket back onto the bed.
He looked at the time and saw that it was 6 am, 2 hours earlier than the academy timing.
Naruto stretched his arms and felt that his body was completely awake so he decided to get ready and just roam the city.
'What was that dream? Was it all the games, I played?' Naruto questioned as he showered and ate his breakfast
The dream was too realistic and he could remember it clearly.
'The pain was so real and the smell so disgusting. Maybe it is my bloodline to have realistic dreams, where I can train or something.' Naruto mused as he jumped over the buildings; he wasn't in the mood to meet the citizens of Konoha
He was feeling happy and it would ruin it with the constant rejection.
His feet led him to the training area, which was empty at the moment and he remembered his failed attempts at dodging and the lack of martial skills.
'If there were two of them, I would have died. If it was little bit faster I would have died. I need to increase my speed and evasiveness along with learning how to kill with my bare hands.' Naruto thought and wondered where he could learn that from
'I can ask Iruka sensei or Grandpa.' Naruto decided and moved towards the Hokage office
