Disclaimer: I regret to inform you, I am not the talented Suzanne Collins. Sorry.
Katniss/Gale
.:Only You:.
Her expression is unveiled, not hidden away behind a mask of sorrow and supposed indifference. She is so beautiful. "Talk to me," I plead. "Let me in." Her eyelids close lightly, covering the misty grey of her eyes.
She takes a deep breath, takes a step towards me. Tears drip down her face, lightly as the new fallen snow. Her breath comes out in cold, white puffs, and she is beautiful. "I can't."
What can't she do? Can't talk to me. Can't love me. Can't choose. Or won't choose? Won't choose me.
I lean in, slowly, carefully. I don't want to disturb this moment, here, in the forest, where none are watching but the animals. Where no one else can see her beauty, can appreciate it.
My lips brush against hers, light as a feather, then harder. She gasps, lightly. My hands reach up to her hair, and I pull her closer to me.
"Katniss." Katniss.
Only her. It was always only her. And it will always be, only her.
"Only you."
Katniss/Finnick
.:Wanting:.
I am used to wanting. I am not used to waiting. I am used to being wanted. I am not used to be shunned. "Kaaatniiis," I call out seductively. Her gait falters, she stops, turns around slowly. I put on my best seductive face, drawing her in. I will draw her in.
"How about you and I get to know each other a little better, hmm?" I practically purr at her.
"How about you leave me alone, hmm?" She mimics my tone, licking her bottom lip. It drives me crazy.
She turns around again, walks away. "Wait, Katniss, stop." I call out to her. I have to admit, my voice has taken on a certain amount of neediness. I am so used to instant gratification, that not getting it only makes me need it more.
I close my eyes, draw in a breath. I go to her this time. I am so used to having them come to me, but she is worth this, she is worth a little downsizing of my pride. I rest my hand against her jaw.
"What?" She asks. Her breath hitching.
"I thought you should know..." I kiss her, and finally, she kisses me back.
Katniss/Peeta
.:What Words Can't Express:.
"Don't do this again." I plead to her as she walks away from me. She can't, can't leave me.
She looks at me surprised, as if I was the one who left her, not the other way around. "I won't," She whispers. Her voice is tiny, so unlike her. She looks so vulnerable, so needy.
I reach out to her, both arms open wide, ready and waiting for her to enter their embrace. She comes to me, and I encircle her in a hug. A real hug, not something fake and fabricated for the audience, but something that she wants just as much as I do: Comfort.
"Peeta?" She asks, looking up at me. I look down at her, conveying every last bit of love in my heart in one single gaze. She kisses me. She kisses me. Her lips are soft, and so different from all the kisses we've had in the Arena. This is real. "I love you."
I can't explain how much I love you.
