"Remember the time we spent here, watching the sunset? You told me this was where you felt the most comfortable, most relaxed. I felt the same, only because you were there sitting right beside me." The boy in red walked beside her, listening to her talking about the first time they met. The shy, young girl smiled to herself as she relived the memory as though it was a dream. "Just us two, that was perfect. I could sit there all day with you." She pulled the black trench coat tightly around her as the breeze picked up.
"It was perfect. Just like you are." The boy spoke softly.
Very soon, the girl stopped in her tracks.
"Oh, I brought a flower for you." The girl held out a half wilted rose, the left side of her face hidden behind her fringe as she lowered her chin slightly, her eyes looking down.
He smiled, holding out a hand, allowing her some time to slowly place the delicate present in his palm. "Thank you..." He leaned forward and whispered into her ear, caressing her cheek gently. "for remembering."
The rose fell through his palm, the blood red petals a contrast to the cold white marble where it landed. He sighed, wrapping his arms around her from behind, but they passed through her easily.
She felt, for the briefest moment, a slight warmth up her back and on her cheek, and it startled her. She turned. There wasn't anyone in sight except for her.
"I wish you were here." She muttered, holding back the stream of hot tears as her fingers glided over the stone and the name carved in gold letters in the middle of it.
"I am, I am!" He cried out in frustration, although in his heart he knew she could never hear him. He choked back his tears, reaching out for her hands desperately. "I'll always be by your side."
She gave his grave one last look, and headed down the grassy hill. The boy sat on the marble slab, whispering the words into the air. "I will always love you..."
