"Birdie?" Red eyes peer around the corner of the small apartment from the kitchen.
A small snore is heard in reply.
Gilbert smiles as he sees his wife dreaming happily on the couch, her face no-longer contorted or sporting wrinkles from her stressful day at work. That, and there was something she had yet to tell her husband.
The albino sits next to his wife's form on the couch, gently stroking her hair.
Mid-stroke, his Canadian bride decides to pull a Snow White and wake from her slumber, albeit before Prince Charming can give her the kiss of her life.
"Gil…? You're home early," she yawns sleepily, rubbing her eyes.
"Ja. Mein Boss said I could go home to be with meine Liebe," Gilbert says, rubbing their noses together and wrapping her in a sweet embrace.
"That was very nice of him. I'll have to send Ivan a note to thank him for sending you home early." She smiles with a glint in her eyes that Gilbert has only had the pleasure of seeing a few times in his short, married life.
Gilbert smirks. "So naughty, Birdie. I'll just have to punish you," he says huskily and leans down to kiss her.
Madeleine, seeing through his ploy kisses her way down his neck first, before he can take control of the situation.
Gil bites his lip to hold in the satisfaction he's feeling from the hot, wet sensation dancing slowly lower down his body.
Maddie bites lightly into his collarbone to get the sound he's been holding into bubble forth from his lips. She pulls away, a delicious smirk on her face. "I have something I want you to know," she slowly unbuttons Gil's shirt after his suit jacket and tie have been discarded, "but I don't want you to be freaked out, okay?"
Madeleine leans in to let kisses run rampant down his exposed chest, but Gilbert gently rests his palm on her forehead to stop her progression.
She pulls away, confusion and hurt flashing in her violet eyes. "Gil? Did I say something wrong?" She absent-mindedly folds her hands together and looks at her flighty fingers.
"N-nein! Liebe, I just want to hear what you have to say first. But I have to ask. You aren't gonna die on me, right?" Gilbert laughs weakly, hoping he's jumped to conclusions.
Maddie waves his question away. "Of course not! Someone has to love you, or you'd be back in prison doing God-knows what." She laughs, lifting Gilbert's worries with her grin. "Besides, I would only want to deliver good news before sex anyway," she giggles.
His famous laughs pierces the air. "Alright, Liebe. What is it? And you were in prison, too, so don't blame it all on me!"
"Alright!" She smiles. "I went to the doctor last week because I wasn't feeling well."
Gilbert nods his head in agreement because he was there every morning when she puked. "And? What'd the doc say?"
Madeleine takes in a deep breath. "I'm pregnant," she whispers.
Gil clears his throat. "I-I don't think I heard you right, Birdie."
"I'm pregnant." This time, she says it with confidence, and it's at a volume at which humans can hear it.
There is a moment of silence between the couple.
Then, Gilbert whispers, "So I'm gonna be ein vati?"
Madeleine smiles her widest and proudest smile. "Oui, Gilbert. We are going to be parents."
