A.N. Just something short I wrote the other day. I don't own Furuba/Fruits Basket.

Purple eyes stared into the darkness. They saw everything... No matter how little light there was outside, the light within illuminated all. The light of love.

"Hana-chan, why do you get so sad when the Sohmas are with me?" Honest and unassuming curiosity laced the little brunette's tone as she looked up at her long time friend, her blue eyes lit by the waning flame of a candle.

The black haired beauty paused, rubbing the smaller girl's back soothingly as the thunder made her shake, setting the brush she'd been using to smooth Tohru's damp locks aside. "Because your eyes stare only at them when they're near. And I'm selfish." She began to comb her fingers through silky brown locks, trying to soak in the intimacy of the action.

Confusion and concern lit the blue eyed girl's features. "I'm sorry Hana-chan... I don't mean to make you feel alone. I'm the selfish one."

A particularly loud clap of thunder rang through the air, sending Tohru right into the quiet one's arms. For a few moments, both teens were silent, contemplating their words. The only sounds were the deep, angry rumblings of the sky above and the constant tap of rain drops on the window panes.

"Tohru-chan?"

"Hm?" Sky blue eyes met twin pools of violet, her arms wrapped tightly around the other girl's shoulders and neck. Shaking, her arms tightened as the angry sound shook the window panes once more.

"You're wrong. I'm the selfish one. I don't like having to share your gaze with anyone else." Her arms tightened around the cheery girl's waist.

"Why?"

Hanajima's expression softened a little at her naivete. "Because. You're my light, and sharing you feels like losing you." Her hand came up to cup her cheek, eyes searching for some kind of answer, a glimmer of realization.

"But I'll always be here for you, Hana-chan! You don't have to worry about losing me." Beaming, she turned to move back.

Before she could leave her arms, Hana seized her, pressing her lips to Tohru's gently. "You get it now? I love you, Tohru-chan."

A light pink blush dusted across her cheeks, a smile gracing her lips. "I thought that's what I said before. I love you too Hana-Saki." Shyly, she pressed her lips to hers.

Light seemed to pulse through the dark room, purple eyes seeing blue perfectly. Light. The light of love was everywhere.
