A Boy and His Dog

Sam glanced contentedly at the avocado walls and dark wood of his rented cabin. Freedom was amazing, invigorating, exciting...and lonely for someone who'd spent life sandwiched between two other Winchesters.

Unexpected thunder startled Sam as the room darkened. Hearing whimpering over the rain pelting the cabin, he peered outside but couldn't distinguish anything in the downpour.

He opened the door and a sodden mass of reddish fur slipped into the offered shelter.

The dog turned around and sat, tail hesitantly thumping.

"Easy, boy," Sam soothed. "You'll keep dry here. Gonna get a towel and clean you up. D'ya like Funyuns?"
