"A Deal with the Devil" -by Lin Raimondo

Author's Note: I originally wrote this poem for a poetry project in school
earlier this year. When I got my project back, I found that my picky
teacher really liked this poem. If she likes it, chances are, everyone
will like it.... So here it is. Rally-ho!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"The only way to save their souls
Is to retrieve the Gulug Stone."
That is what the devil said.
I knew that if I didn't comply there would be dread.
"You may take three of them along;
For if you didn't, you'd be surely gone."
I took Quina, Amarant, and Freya,
Three chosen ones to save Gaia
Yet my soul is confused;
Are we just being used?
Even so, this is the only way
To let my friends live another day.
Beloved Dagger, Eiko, Vivi, Cid, and Steiner:
Any other friends could not be finer.
Especially Dagger, my love;
For you are fairer than the whitest dove.
I shall save your heart,
So we can never again be apart.
