You have your mother's eyes
The year was 1981, Remus Lupin and James Potter were sitting across from each other at a circular table towards the corner of The Dancing Mermaid, a wizarding strip club. It was the only place that was open at such a late hour.
"Lily would kill you if she found out that you were here," Remus quipped, fishing for the cherry floating around the glass that contained his favorite alcoholic beverage, a Tequila Sunrise, he promptly plopped the cherry into his mouth.
"Yes, but she doesn't have to find out, does she, Remus?" James said, winking slyly. His eyes followed a topless waitress who sauntered past their table.
"Now," Mr. Lupin cleared his throat in a desperate attempt to distract his friend from looking at the half naked women surrounding them. "What was it that you wished to talk about?"
"Oh, right, I almost forgot," James mused, he idly ran a finger around the cold rim of his empty glass. "I was wondering if you could do me and Lily a favor, a really big favor..."
"Well, before I accept your request, I feel that I'm entitled to know what I am supposed to do," Remus said, a small smile crept across his lips.
"Right - of course you do," James' voice had a hesitant tone. "Well, you see Remus, it isn't like we don't trust Peter as our secret keeper or anything, but ... but Lily and I want to take one extra precaution." Remus frowned, but didn't say anything, so James continued. "So we were wondering if you could ... help out." He raked his fingers through his hair, that indicated that he was feeling uncomfortable. "It's a pretty complicated plan to explain, so I'll try to - "
"Prongs, you're stalling, just tell me."
"I wanted to know if you and I can - can switch bodies. You know, use a switching spell. Lily would perform it on us. You'll be me and I'll be you, well, we'll act like each other," James pressed his spectacles against his nose. "But if you don't wa-"
"How long will it be for?" Lupin inquired, absently stirring his drink around with his straw.
"Only for a little while," James assured him, looking uneasy. "Just enough time for me to get information."
Remus paused, and then, quite surprisingly, he smiled. "Anything to help out an old friend," he said.
Looking surprised, but extremely pleased as well, James drew forth his hand, and patted Remus'. "Thank you Moony," he whispered softly. "Thank you."
