Happy belated Kurofay day?

Written for chapter 167…very very late.

And posted even later.

A quickie for my favorite now (almost) canon couple : )

Rain

His balance was off.

Kurogane wouldn't have expected any less after loosing an arm, but he was determined to walk; it would require a great deal of attention for what was such an effortless task before. The ninja wouldn't have been out of bed if a certain blonde wizard hadn't gone missing an hour or so previously. Kurogane, looking for any excuse to leave the 'feathery hell-bed of boredom' (or so he called it) insisted on finding the other man.

It was a surprisingly easy task (because Fay was Fay, and Fay was never an easy person to locate), as Kurogane found him sitting against the wall of Tomoyo's gardens, eyes closed.

It was raining.

"Hey." Kurogane called, getting the blonde's attention.

Fay opened his eyes and looked at the man taking a seat beside him.

"Hey."

"What are you doing here?"

The blonde shrugged, momentarily closing his eyes again. "Watching the rain, I guess," he looked back towards the taller man, "and what about you? You shouldn't be out of bed."

"I came to find you." He answered. "Why would you want to get yourself wet just to watch water fall from the sky?" Kurogane eyed the mage's damp hair and clothing.

Fay's answer was a smile which made the ninja's thoughts come to a standstill. He wasn't yet used to these smiles. "It's interesting."

"So you like it?"

"What?"

"The rain. Do you like it?"

This earned another shrug. "I don't know."

Kurogane raised an eyebrow. Ruby met sapphire.

The magician looked at the sky. "I've never really paid much attention to rain before," a pause, "it was always something so trivial."

Kurogane didn't need to ask why.

The mage drew a pale palm to the sky, testing the droplets of water, which ran down his wrist, and along the length of his arm.

"So, do you think you like the rain?" Their eyes met once again, and Fay gave Kurogane the smile again (which wasn't as much stunning as it was real) and gently rested his head against the ninja's good shoulder.

"I think I do." The words were quiet and gentle and sincere.

Neither moved from that position.

"I'm glad."

(spoilers)

Just a quick note: I wrote this before 169… so… the eye color does not apply here.. or I can assume that Fay just made that wish a little later in the time period…
