He heard from Hotch, who'd heard from Reid. Apparently Reid had called from Gideon's cabin, half-hysterical by that point. Hotch said he was going up there to get Reid and asked him to tell the rest of the team. He'd told J.J. and Prentiss, both shocked. J.J. gets on the phone to tell Garcia, but he shakes his head, after all his baby girl did today to try and keep the team together he knows this is going to be a shock.

She smiles as he comes into her brand spanking new control center, "Well hello there my tower of chocolate hotness. How are you today?"

"Not that good, mama."

Her smile dropped, "What's wrong….we got the killer, Hotch and Emily are back…..Derek what is it?"

"Its Gideon," he said, "He's gone."

"What?" she said, her face going white, "How…"

"No, no," he said, coming closer and cursing himself, "I'm sorry, not gone like dead, just gone….he left Reid a note at his cabin, he's leaving the BAU, he's leaving the team."

"But…..is he okay? Where is he?"

Morgan shrugged, "I don't know, he didn't tell Reid, just a note saying he was leaving."

She nodded, pulling away from him, "I can't believe he didn't even say good-bye. Reid must be so upset."

"Hotch is with him. How are you doing, baby girl? I know you liked Gideon a lot."

"Yeah," she nodded, "I did. He was always so….I guess he was always the person I was trying to prove myself to."

He shook his head, "You know how important he thought you were to the team, how much he appreciated you. He wasn't very good at showing it, but he did."

She nodded, "When I went to meet him, helped him when he was trying to catch Frank, I….he'd never been that affected by anything before, I guess it shouldn't be a surprise that he did this. I just…." She tried to smile, "I thought we were all going to make it through this, you know?"

He nodded, grabbing her arm to pull her into a hug, "I know, but I'm still here, and Hotch and Reid and J.J, and Prentiss, and you," he pulled back and smiled, "Our center, you did a great job holding us all together these last few weeks."

She nods, and then she can't seem to hold on anymore, tears coming to her eyes, "Go ahead, Pen, its okay."

He holds her, lets her cry it out on his shoulder, after all, even the center needs support sometimes.
