Chapter 1

Tony groaned and rolled over. When he saw the time, he jumped out of bed.

"Holy crap, I'm gonna be late!"

He quickly got dressed and headed out the door. When he got up to the bull pen, he popped his head above the wall. Ziva and McGee sent him a questioning look. Looking around, he quickly slid into the seat, praying Gibbs was on a coffee run.

"Your late, DiNozzo."

He cringed.

"Sorry boss, it won't happen again."

He rolled his eyes.

"How many times have I heard THAT before?" He said as he got his gun out of the drawer in his desk. "Grab your gear. We gotta a lead on Jenkins."

Willard Jenkins was a man who they'd been searching for, for over a month. He was a mad man who thought he had figured out how to send people into the future, taking test subjects out of their home's at night. They only mistake he made, taking a marine.

"It's about time," Tony said, grabbing his bag. "I was beginning to think we were never gonna catch him."

Gibbs glared at him.

"No offense." He quickly added.

"Pistol!" Ziva shouted as she opened the passenger door.

"It's shotgun, Ziva." Tony rolled his eyes.

Tony laid his head on the back of the seat. 'God, I'm tired. I wouldn't have been late, if I hadn't been up all night, thinking about Ziva. God, what woman does to me.' His thoughts where interrupted when the car came to a stop. They had pulled up in front of a warehouse.

"Tony, Ziva, You two take the back. McGee and I got the front. Don't shoot unless absolutely necessary. We have no idea what's in there."

They got out of the car and drew their weapons. Tony and Ziva crept around the building. Ziva grabbed the door handle.

"One, Two, Three!" She yanked it open.

We crept inside. Jenkins was bent over a table.

"Jenkins! Put your hands in the air!" Gibbs shouted.

"No! I almost have it! All I need to do is test it!" he said, holding a gun that reminded McGee of the ray gun from Black Ops.

His eyes landed on Tony and he shot.

"NO!" Ziva shouted as she jumped in front of him.

Tony Shot his leg and he went down, and then he crouched next to Ziva.

"Come on, Zi. Don't die on me!"

"McGee! Check Jenkins!"

Gibbs ran over.

"She's not bleeding. There's not even a wound!"

Gibbs pulled out his phone.

"Come on. Please Ziva. Please."

Commander Ameara Lynn Shepard pulled her helmet on as sirens blared around her. She turned around then tossed a fire extinguisher to Kaiden.

"Commander, do you think the Alliance will be here in time?!"

"They damn well better be! I'm not out here so they can find our frozen corpses! Get everyone to the evac shuttles!"

"Joker won't leave! I'm not going either!"

"I'll take care of Joker! Get to the shuttles!"

"Commander…"

She stopped and turned to look at him.

"Now, Kaiden."

He hesitated, then turned and left. Giving up on putting out the fire, she turned and headed to the CIC. As she entered, she was able to see stars. 'My baby… When I figure out who did this, there is gonna be one hell of a comeuppance.' She walked past the blue barrier Joker had set up to keep out debris.

"Joker, Come on! We have to get out of here!"

"No! She's not lost! I can still save her!"

"Joker," She lowered her voice. "The Normandy's gone. Going down with the ship won't change that."

He stopped, and then sighed.

"Alright. Help me up."

She went to reach for him.

"Their coming around for another attack!" Joker shouted.

She grabbed his arm.

"Ow! Watch the arm!"

She helped him limp over to the last shuttle, and then threw him in. Before she could get in, she was thrown back by another explosion. Seeing there was no hope she could make I back to the shuttle, she pressed the button and the door closed.

"SHEPARD! COMMAN-"

His voice was cut off.
