Equivalent Exchange
Summary: The laws of equivalent exchange are absolute just as their love for each other was. Based on a dream I had.
"At long last," Kagome cried in his arms, "At long last I finally found you. I cannot believe he left me. How could he be so cruel."
"In exchange for his cruelty you found me," Edward said caressing her head as she cried, "That is the law of equivalent exchange. Sometimes it isn't fair, but it is always equal."
"He's a half demon," She cried, "He'll go to hell for abandoning me."
"Dry your tears," Edward said, "Know that I will never abandon you."
"He said the same thing," Kagome said staring into Edward's golden eyes, "You speak of this world that is now paradise. He thought ours was too. He said that we would be together forever. How do I know I won't lose you too."
"Here's how," Edward said kissing her deeply. She kissed back. When they broke apart, Edward spoke.
"I was loyal to Winry until the day she left me," Edward said, "You and I have both gone through the exact same thing and I think it is the will of a high power that I found out how to meet you. I used to not believe in God but you are my proof. Know that I will always adore you."
Kagome burst out crying again, this time out of happiness. She knew she had found her true love and Edward knew that he had found his. As the energy of the alchemical reaction that brought their worlds together faded, they both found themselves standing in a small village. The same one that Edward had grown up in.
"Your world is gone," Edward said, "And with it, all your pain must go as well. I will never abandon you and I will never forsake you. Know that in exchange for your love I will give mine."
"Equivalent exchange," Kagome said, "That is what brought us together."
"And that is what will keep us together forever," Edward said gazing into her amber eyes.
The two stood there, in the middle of the field, gazing into each other's eyes.
