To Ease the End

暮菖兰 stood at the edge of the cliff where the wild cranes flew by. Their calls cut through the cold, fresh air. She watched them as they passed. Their large wings were undeterred by the winds that grew ever fiercer. In her heart she followed them to the greatest height and there she found the comfort that she had been deprived of for so long.

They passed from sight too soon. Their calls grew ever fainter. The air became colder without them. The sun was lost behind pale clouds.

暮菖兰 knelt down. There were three small cups set at her feet. She had already poured the libation. The wind rippled over the surface of each. The porcelain was soundless. There wasn't the faintest semblance of life. In truth, she hadn't expected there to be.

Hāhā

暮菖兰 hesitated to turn around. The wind had strengthened. The laughter was lost. A desperate hope clutched mercilessly at her heart. Her fingers skimmed across the dusty earth. It came away at her light touch. She took a breath and rose. Her eyes were hesitant to turn.

Duì bù qǐ le

Ràng nǐ zuò dēng le

暮菖兰 was silent. She stood alone. Her eyes averted from the sight. The wind blew colder. It flourished in her desolation. 暮菖兰 wouldn't gaze upon the edge either.

It was the same place that they had met their end. That evil will had come and stolen her from them. He had followed shortly after. They both rested side by side in the depths of the valley between the lofty mountain peaks.

暮菖兰 held herself. There was no one to turn to. If she wanted to know comfort she had to look within herself.

"Wǒ tīng nǐ de," 暮菖兰 whispered. "Wǒ xiǎngniàn nǐ…"

Author's Note: I have the game but I can't play… Yes, this is Xian Jiàn Five+. For those of you who do not know, that's what I prefer to call Chinese Paladin. Unfortunately, the game is in Chinese. I chose Traditional as I hope to be able to read and write and listen well one day. As of yet, I am unable to locate the code needed to start the game. Thank goodness academy is not ever-lasting.

This game… Well, this is mostly for the three main ones… However, this is also about my favourite couple! Her name is暮菖兰. That means Twilight Gladiolus. That is a purple flower, hence why she has purple flowers on her body. The man is谢沧行. That little bit where there are two lines in italics… Yes, that's meant to be a translation of one of his actual lines. I say 'meant to be' as I found that on a video (go look up estherera if you're interested in the couple because I hadn't thought of them as such until I had seen them) and there were no Chinese characters at all. I don't have a good enough ear to detect which ones were being used. I think I chose correctly. Oh! By the way, 暮菖兰 is my next Cosplay project! I'd have started already if academy hadn't…

Nǐ hái zhēnshi méishì – This is a line that I wanted to include. 谢沧行 was meant to say that. As I don't know if he ever did I decided not to. I think the meaning is 'you are doing well'.

Let your light off blessing – Yes, this is why I chose those characters. I listened and I guessed. This is the one that made the most sense. I am most likely incorrect.

Thank you for reading! I do hope that you have enjoyed this.

(For the record, this is tidy. I could have gone on a rant. Yes, that is me not ranting)
