The Help of the Dead

"We should help them!" Nearly-Headless-Nick said "They're fighting down there!"

In case you want to know, all the ghosts were in an empty classroom while the Second War happened outside.

"Oh, I don't like fights." The Fat Friar answered "Why don't we just wait until it's all over?"

"I can't believe you said that! Don't you want to revenge Diggory?"

"I'm not a revengeful being."

"Anyone? Nick tried.

But the Bloody Baron and Helena Ravenclaw were too busy snoging in a corner to listen, and the other ghosts pretended not to.

"You are all such a cowards! How do you feel knowing that Peeves, Peeves!, is in there pranking Death Eaters while we hide in here? And it's not like they can hurt us, we're dead! You-Know-Who is down there and we're not stopping him!"

"He is?" Moaning Myrtle asked.

"Yes!"

"I'll make him pay!" and she left before anyone could say anything.

She floated through the fields while the Gryffindor ghost tried to convince the others to help.

Myrtle stood right in front of Voldemort when she found him, sitting with his Death Eaters in the Forbidden Forrest.

"Who are you?" Bellatrix Lestrange demanded.

"TOM RIDDLE!" Myrtle yelled, ignoring Bellatrix.

"How dare you to say you're my Dark Lord? Crucio!" but the curse went through the ghost and hit Fernir Greyback, who fell on the floor yelling. Bellatrix didn't bother to stop it.

"What do you want, ghost?" Voldemort asked, bored.

"You killed me!"

"So what? I've killed tons of people." he shrugged.

Annoyed, Myrtle went through him to give him an 'icy bath'.

Voldemort didn't move.

"Stupid mudblood, I don't feel. Now shoo!" he shooed her away.

Myrtle cried all the way back to the other ghosts.

"Can someone give me a blanket? Evilness, I'm cold." Voldemort whipped.

Back in the ghosts' hideout Myrtle had finished telling what happened.

"You saw him?" Nick asked, stunned.

"Yeah. He's all white and ugly. I wonder what happened to his nose…"

"It was very brave of you to go. And we should do the same!" Nick insisted "You know what? I'm going with or without you."

"Oh no, you're not." The Bloody Baron and another ghost grabbed him while the Grey Lady fixed her hair.

"You can't stop me! Why would you do that?"

"Because if you go, people will start to say: 'Look, a ghost is helping us!...But where are the others?' and then we'll be all in shame. But if you don't go, no one will remember us and we won't be forced to go."

"You don't want me to go, so you don't have to?"

"Basically."

"You're all a bunch of cowards!" he said while struggling to get free.

"Of course we are. We're ghosts." The Fat Friar said.

"What…"

"We were afraid to move on, weren't we?" Helena explained.

"Oh."

And with that, no ghost was seen during the Final Battle.

I wondered what happened to the ghosts during that battle…
