Rain By Figaro

Ranma sat at the back door and stared at the falling rain. He knew well what would happen if that rain were to hit him instead of the ground. He knew well that sensation that haunted him for so many years. How many times had that sensation changed the course of his life? He couldn't even begin to imagine. At least things are a little calmer now that people have stopped talking about the wedding.

"Huh, what.oh, hey Akane."

"Ne Ranma." Said Akane in a cheerful voice.

"Nani?"

"You wanna come with me and return a book to Dr. Tofu?" she asked with a smile. She really can be cute sometimes, "sure, I'll go" said Ranma as he sprang to his feet.

He realized how long he had been watching the rain when his legs had that strained feel to them. He took a stretch and headed for the front door. Akane came running up with the umbrella and put on her shoes.

"Ready?" Ranma asked.

"Yeah" replied Akane.

Akane opened the umbrella and stepped into the rainy night. Ranma waited a moment and joined her under the safety of the umbrella. They began walking simultaneously. After a few moments passed Akane looked over at Ranma and noticed that he was lost in thought.

"What'cha thinking about Ranma?"

"Huh, oh, just the rain." he said after snapping back to reality.

"The Rain?"

"Yea."

"Why?"

"Just thinking about how those drops changed my life after Jusenkyo."

"Yea," she said and looked fondly at the sky, "it has been interesting." Ranma took a moment to glance at how beautiful Akane looked right then. "Yea," he said after a pause, "remember the first time we met? Now that was interesting."

"Heh, yea. I still remember the look on daddy's face when he found out you were a girl."

"Heh, he almost died of shock that day."

"And remember," said Akane flashing a wry smile, "you're Kuno's pigtailed goddess."

"Ugh, don't remind me," he said with a cringe, "hey, he loves you too." retorted Ranma with a sneer. Akane stuck her tongue out at him and they both started to laugh. They went on reminiscing about the past year until their errand was over and they were at the houses doorstep.

"Thanks for the company Ranma."

"No problem."

"We should do this more often."

"What?" asked Ranma with a puzzled look on his face.

"Talk." Akane replied before coming up and kissing the surprised Ranma on the cheek. She then closed the umbrella and headed inside. Leaving Ranma staring dumbfounded after her with a hand on his cheek. After snapping back to reality he turned and again looked at the raining night.

"That water really has changed my life."
