"Wait, Sara, look what I'm offering you. Your dreams."

Sara walked towards the Goblin King who backed away as though frightened of her. No, not the Goblin King, Jareth. The man who had sang to her, danced with her. Loved her? 'Only one way to find out', Sara mused before taking his free hand in hers.

"Through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered I have fought my way here."

Jareth stared down at her, hope etched on his face. 'Please', he thought, 'Please, take the crystal. Please don't shut me away in a drawer somewhere. Please don't forget me.'

"I have fought my way here, to thank you."

Jareth stared at her in shock. Thank him!

"Everything I have asked for I received. But there was something I didn't ask for as well. Your caring for me. Please, Jareth?"

She touched his face with her free hand, the other still holding his. The crystal hung forgotten between them.

"Please let me stay?"

Jareth had no time to reply for Sara moved to close the gap that separated their mouths. Their kiss seemed to last eternity yet both thought it ended too quickly.

"But", Jareth stammered, " the crystal-"

"Does not contain my dreams", Sara smoothly cut in, "however, the man holding it does."

So Jareth tucked the crystal away, holding on to his Sara with both hands as the clock struck thirteen.

Her parents did not remember they had a daughter. Sara's belongings transported to the Labyrinth went she spent the rest of her days as Queen to the Goblin King. And Toby? He came back to the Labyrinth often to see his sister and his brother-in-law.
