Stockholm Syndrome

It was funny – in one of those self deprecating kind of ways – that their lives had come to this. Her emotions had become so fractured and twisted – worn to shreds and then rebuilt until she didn't really know how she was supposed to feel anymore. Hell, she wasn't even sure of her actual feelings on the matter. All she knew was that, in this moment, she was irrationally angry. Her anger, however, was torn in two opposite directions.

Rationally she knew that the anger directed towards her captor was more than justified. After all, he had engaged her in a battle right after she had just finished a battle with a rather large group of Sound nin. That encounter had drained most of her chakra and so, when the Jashinist and his macabre partner challenged her, she was easily incapacitated. Incapacitated – that was another excellent reason to be angry. The pair hadn't killed her. Instead they had decided to use her as the bait to lure in Naruto. And she knew that it would work because even though the blonde would realize it was a trap – he wouldn't care. They would kill her best friend and it would be all her fault.

So, yeah, she was beyond pissed about the situation but at the same time… it wasn't all that bad – being with the two S-class criminals. Hidan in particular was, well, he was something.

"Do you really expect me to just allow you to drag me around the countryside with you?" the pinkette had growled out – voice laced with venom.

He was such an annoying and arrogant bastard back then – in the beginning before she had lost her mind.

"Did you hear that Kakuzu? This bitch thinks she can get away from us." laughed the silver haired Jashinist.

And he'd had every right to be that cocky, that sure of himself because every single one of her escape attempts had been foiled by the "zombie combo." Eventually she had quit trying to leave all together because – terrifyingly enough – she hadn't really wanted to. She had done everything she could think of – recalling fond memories with her friends, family, and Shikamaru; her loving albeit lazy boyfriend – to convince herself to keep attempting to get away, but it hadn't worked as well as she had hoped it would.

"Hey bitch, just because you haven't tried to escape in awhile doesn't mean that this bastard and I are lowering our guard, seriously." Hidan had exclaimed.

Sakura was silent for a few heartbeats before muttering, "I don't want to leave."

And now here she was, a couple of days later, watching this battle take place – the battle between Hidan and Shikamaru – which was another reason for her anger. What the hell had he been thinking coming out here to get her himself? Where was that famous intelligence of his now? The brunette was just one Chunnin against two immortal S-class criminals. She had to stop this now. And with that thought she determinedly ran to intercept the two battling shinobi.

Upon noticing the kunoichi they both reflexively pulled back and stared at her with looks of confusion.

"Stop, both of you, just please stop."
