Hah! I managed to get something done! In your FACE, Ami-chan! (sticks her tongue out childishly)
Now, I just gotta start working on my EisukeXAi/Shiho fic…
Disclaimer: …Must I say it? I don't own Meitantei Conan, or Akemi Hondou, OR Ai Hondou. The first one belongs to Gosho Aoyama, and the last two belong to a freak I call my friend. (I lub ya, Muse-chan)
Shiho didn't know whether to be amused or sympathetic about the whole situation. Hearing her daughter's wails did pull a few strings in her heart, but Ai's devious laughter seemed to be contagious and she soon found herself trying to stifle her giggles.
Eisuke looked over at the two, wondering what about the fact that Akemi was crying was so funny.
Shiho quickly silenced herself and pointed at her other daughter, who just so happened to be standing right next to her and who just so happened to still be laughing at her sister's misery.
She sent her husband a look that clearly stated, 'She did it.'
He sighed, returning his attention back to Akemi, who continued to wail, despite his efforts to cheer her up.
"It's okay, Akemi-chan. I know it was an accident."
"b-But…" She sniffled, looking up at her father with wide, innocent eyes that screamed, 'HUG MEH!' even while tears streamed down her pale face.
"I…It's my fault, Otou-san."
Eisuke shook his head.
"It is NOT your fault, Akemi-chan. If it's anyone's fault, it's mine. It seems you've inherited your father's lack of grace."
Shiho smiled, kneeling down beside the two of them.
She ruffled her daughter's hair affectionately before saying, "He's right, Akemi-chan. Like the old saying goes, 'It's no use crying over spilt milk.'"
The strawberry blonde looked down at the ground smeared whip cream and icing and cracked a smile.
"Or…cake, in our case."
Akemi rubbed her eyes, trying to wipe away her tears.
"So it's not my fault?"
"No, sweetheart, it's not."
"And…you're not mad?"
Eisuke smiled.
"Of course not."
With that reassurance, the little girl stopped crying immediately, leaping to her feet and smiling brightly at her parents.
"Arigatou!"
As she turned to run off and play, it WAS her birthday, after all, Shiho stopped her with a playful tease of, "And Akemi-chan…Eat the cake next time. Don't wear it."
Akemi giggled, knowing her mother was referring to the front of her shirt. A large glob of white and pink stained her previously plain black shirt, but she didn't really care.
It actually looked kind of cool…
Plus, it tasted good.
Fin
Gah! I just love Akemi! She's so cute!
