Yu had not wanted to go. Of course he hadn't. Who in their right mind would voluntarily go to his love's wedding with another? But he was her butler; Yu was in no place to contradict anything that went on in the castle. He shouldn't even have fallen in love with her. But then again, who can control such things? He watched the soft, gentle Edward waiting for her at the altar. Yu let the bitterness seep into his heart.

The world isn't fair, is it? No, because if it was, I might be standing there instead of a sappy good-for-nothing. I... Yu shook the thoughts out of his head. He was a butler-and he would stay a butler. Patricia was his employer; he could not harbor ill thoughts and resentment. But as the couple said their vows, he felt the urge to physically tear Edward away from Patricia. Yu clenched his hands, willing them to stay by his sides. This was meant to be. What else would have happened? It is my own fault. He spotted Duke Rachester glaring at him. Yu put on a suave, mysterious smile. He made sure not to appear to be anything but pleased at the union. Rachester would have his head otherwise.

The newlyweds strode out. Patricia looks...so happy... Yu knew his feelings were probably one sided. For the rest of the day he watched them smile and thank everyone and get congratulated. He stood in the very back, the smile still plastered on his face. It would be there for awhile; Patricia wanted him to keep serving her as a butler. Loyalty over one's feelings. A twisted world, indeed.
