AN: Somewhere along the way I think I stopped writing about Riku and started writing about me, sorry for that.

Summery: Riku's thoughts as he gets ready to leave Destiny Island behind and move on with the next stage of his life. Post Kingdom Hearts

Warnings: Language, sad thoughts, hints of one-sided RikuXSora

He was leaving, moving on with his life after so much lost time fighting heartless, nobodies, and himself. But leaving this time wasn't going to be the same as when he left everyone behind for the darkness of when he left Sora behind temporarily to pull his emotions together, no this time he was leaving because it was time to. He was eighteen and had graduated school after much scrambling, now it was time for him to go on to another place and another school to find his place in his own world since a guardian was no longer needed. Riku was leaving.

Staring out his dark window to the moonlit beach below his mind wondered over the past year, the fight to pass, the trips to the island, the distance between him and the others, and his almost desperate want to see Sora more before he left. It seemed to him that the more he tried to fix things the worse they became, it was almost like nothing could be done to repair the cracks in his relationship with his best friend despite how happy the younger boy had been to see him originally. He hadn't been able to handle the way Sora was just so happy to be close to him again, something in his hear was still broken and because of that he had withdrawn from the other two in a way he now regretted. Riku knew he had hurt Sora but now it seemed he couldn't fix what he had broken and while Sora and Kairi had moved on he was stuck with his own broken heart and lost way.

He would be leaving soon, just a few weeks and then there would be far more than just his own fear and Sora's almost indifferent nature keeping him from seeing his younger friend. He was excited about college, he really was, but he almost wished that he had failed the year or not gotten into the school just so he could stay with Sora a little longer, no matter how much being near him hurt. Waiting on his windowsill for the sun to rise Riku wondered if he'd be close enough to the sea in his dorm to blame the wind and ocean waves for the water on his cheeks.

Riku was leaving, and for the first time Sora didn't seem to care.
