Prologue: The Girl With Skin As White As Snow.
King Alaric was a kind king who ruled his kingdom for the better of the people, and his queen held a fascination and love for snow. Snow, the beautiful blankets that covered the world every year, and she dreamed of bearing a child with the same beauty of the beautiful weather. As the story goes, the queen was granted her wish; sadly, she never had the chance to see her daughter for she passed after bearing the beautiful child, Maria. Whereas some people saw the princess as a monster, the majority viewed her pure white skin, snow white hair, and heterochromia eyes, pink that fades to ice blue, earning her the name 'Snow White.' The king raised the child on his own for several years, but she was a young woman, when he decided that there had to be a woman in her life. After all, the only people in her personal life were her father, her father's bodyguards, and the prince from the neighboring, Matthew. The lack of feminine influence to his daughter troubled the king too an excruciating extent, so he secretly began looking for a wife.
On the way home, the king met a woman in a small village; the woman was beautiful and kind. Before the people knew it, their king was marrying again; Anna, their new queen had a kind face but still came off as a cold person. She was the most beautiful person anyone had ever seen, and nothing made her happier than hearing that. The people were happy that they had a queen once again, and Maria was no exception. She loved having a mother; for the first time in her life, she had a female role model.
All was right in Alaric's kingdom; until one night, when he was found dead on his mattress, his cup on the floor, as well as its contents. The next morning, queen Anna assumed the throne, and slowly, all of her devious army flooded the kingdom. This was no longer Alaric's, and if it were, he'd be ashamed beyond recognition. His kingdom ruined and rotting, but the queen continued her lavish ways, for her magic would provide her with whatever she needed. The only price was her beauty; what else would one want from the 'fairest of them all?' The queen would consult her mirror for guidance; one may confuse this mirror with a shiny piece of metal on a wall. However, the queen's mirror was a man who walked out of her shadow, whenever he was summoned, and he would tell her everyday that she was the most beautiful person in all the kingdom.
As we all know, one day the mirror warned the queen that soon one would surpass her beauty, so she decided to lock Maria up until she was old enough to be considered the 'fairest of them all.' After that, the queen would kill her.
Prologue: The Man Who Never Misses.
Of course, in these times, hunters were honorable men, not just rednecks running around down South. Although they are honorable men, it doesn't mean they are rich; one particular man, a hunter, never let anything get away. If he saw it, he would hunt it into the ground; unlike the others, he was silent and kept to himself. At that time, he was looking out for a girl who had shown up at his doorstep; her name was Chiara, and she was a bit ditzy but cheerful none the less. He found it comforting; it wasn't very often that he got to enjoy the company of someone of this nature. The hunter was content with his life, and all was well, until king Alaric died. Everything changed.
