Dreams
I hope you enjoy :)
She was gone. The one person he could speak to without words. The one person he could look at and know everything would be okay. The one person he could hold with no intention of letting go. The one person who believed in him when no one else did.
It didn't matter now, though. She was gone.
I'm coming up only to hold you under
I'm coming up only to show you wrong
And to know you is hard and we wonder
To know you all wrong, we were
Now all he was left with was the images. Burned into his mind.
The look on her face. Her limp body in his arms. How her eyes fought to stay open, as heavy as stone. Her last words.
Really too late to call, so we wait for
Morning to wake you; it's all we got
To know me as hardly golden
Is to know me all wrong, they were
After all they had been through. After everything they had shared.
She was gone.
He wouldn't get to see her eyes light up when something good happened. He wouldn't get to see her smile. He wouldn't get to tell her everything would be alright. He wouldn't be able to save her anymore. She wouldn't be able to tell him how proud he made her.
He would never again feel the way she mad him feel. Like the most important person in a room of hundreds. Like the most important person alive.
At every occasion I'll be ready for a funeral
At every occasion once more is called a funeral
Every occasion I'm ready for the funeral
At every occasion one brilliant day funeral
It didn't seem fair how one person's life could consist of such tragedy. Why did she have to go through so much devastation and heartbreak? Why did things not work out for her the way they were supposed to?
She had never asked for a fairy tale life. But he had wanted nothing more than for her to feel like a princess.
I'm coming up only to show you down for
I'm coming up only to show you wrong
To the outside, the dead leaves, they all blow
For'e they died had trees to hang their hope
In one night he went from having a hopeful future to wishing he would wake up in the past.
Maybe it had been his fault. If he had never come to Newport maybe she would still be alive. He was the convict. He always screwed things up.
At every occasion I'll be ready for the funeral
At every occasion once more is called the funeral
At every occasion I'm ready for the funeral
At every occasion one brilliant day funeral
Memories flashed through his head. The first time he met her. The way she kissed him in a way that said, I'll never let you go. The good times. And the bad.
He lowered himself onto the bed staring up at the ceiling. He closed his eyes and drifted off… And then he saw her. She smiled at him, motioned for him to come closer. Laughing and looking up at the sun. The way the sun hit her face, casting a beam of light on her glowing skin… She looked like an angel.
And in his dreams she found a way to him. A way of telling him she would never let go. He trusted her like no one else.
