The Woman in Pink

John frowned, squatting down to look at the floor, wincing as his leg twinged in pain at the action, but ignoring it. There were more important things to worry about, "Hang on," He said, drawing Sherlock's attention toward him, "What's this mark here, on the floor?" He asked, looking up to see the detective striding over to crouch next to him.

Sherlock's brow creased for a moment, but then his mouth twisted into a small smirk. "That, John," He said, standing up and dusting his coat off, "Is a hoof print. Lestrade, dismiss your forensics team, they're no longer needed. I know exactly what happened here."

John struggled to his feet to catch up with the tall man, who was already striding out of the room and down the stairs. Everything was happening too fast, he couldn't keep up. "Wait!" He called, hurrying to catch up even though his leg was burning with pain. By the time he got to the banister overlooking the stairs, the detective was already on the first floor and just about to leave the house. "Wait, what happened?" He shouted down, unable to bear the curiosity and disbelief that warred within him.

The detective paused, then looked up at him, a wild grin on his face. "Rache," He said, grinning in a way that was almost animalistic, "It means, 'revenge'." And then he left, leaving John just as confused as before, with a whole flight of stairs between him and the answers he was looking for.

Barely holding back a sigh, he gripped his cane in a firmer hold, and started the maddeningly slow and painful descent down the steps, trying to ignore the pitying looks he knew would be thrown his way.

Since over 200 people have read this story so far, I'm just going to assume that you guys enjoyed it :)

So, please, check out my other stories. They're not all as short as this, and these mini-Sherlock fics seems to be hogging all the attention :)

Also, once I am done writing Running, this will be continued into a chapter story. It will be very interesting, let me tell you that.

And, if you're wondering, yes, I would appreciate it if you left a review.
