You don't give him a warning, fully aware that startling him like this has a significant chance of giving you a bad time. For some reason, you've deemed hugging him off-guard worth the risk. So you wrap your arms around him hold him, paying attention for his reaction. You can feel the ribcage under his parka, each bone covered by multiple layers of cloth.
He stiffens, freezing for a moment in surprise, then you feel his arms move around you, and each of the bones in his hands on your back. He doesn't have any cartilage holding his hands together, and his bones are all separate, held up by nothing but magic. You haven't let go yet, so the skeleton continues to hold you, not entirely sure why you came to him of all people for a hug.
His hugs are pretty tight, and it's not long before you start to feel a little smothered in the warmth of his coat... Then you stop and glace up at his face, giving him the most weirded-out look you can manage because he is warm and he is a skeleton and you did not expect that. He notices, loosens his grip, and chuckles, then has the audacity to make a pun.
Despite yourself, you giggle, and pull him close again. You came for a hug, and you weren't done yet.

You're exhausted. Dirty too. Everything felt as if it was covered in dust. Especially your hands. You'd been so busy you didn't really have the time to wash them. Perhaps that was a lie. You probably did have the time, but were so determined to see things through, you didn't.
You're not nearly as determined as you were then. You stop, half listening to the skeleton, and when he finishes talking, you drop the knife you're holding. You know what comes next is far from pleasant, but you don't mind. For some reason, sparing him was worth it. He seems a bit surprised, then opens his arms out to you. So he wraps his arms around you, watching for your reaction.
You stiffen, freezing for a moment in anticipation, then you feel his hold tighten, like a vice. His fingers quickly dig into you, the magic holding his bones constricting around you in an instant. You can't escape, but you wouldn't have done this if you wanted to. The skeleton has noticed that you knew this would happen, he sees the look on your face, but he's not entirely sure why you went through with it anyways.
Perhaps it's part of the magic, or perhaps it's the weight of your sins crawling on your back, but you feel like you're burning as the life drains out of you. Once he's sure you're dead, he loosens his grip, tells you to not return, and even has the audacity to taunt you.
Your lifeless body falls to the ground, and you don't intend to come back. You were most definitely done.
