He walked into the dimly lit lounge room of the Burrow in just his boxers. He didn't realise anyone was there until he heard the soft turning of a page in a book. He looked over to where the sound was coming from, and saw her;she would have stood out anywhere, with her lustrous, beautiful hair and her curves which she always seemed to be hiding under layers of clothing. Except now she wasn't, she was wearing just a night gown and was curled up protectively in a ball on the arm chair. She didn't look up until he cleared his throat, and when she did, he wished she hadn't. The light seemed to illuminate her face in a way that it was so tempting, so much that he could just caress her. But he couldn't, she was his brothers girl. He had always known she was, and his feelings for her were wrong. But surely just one night, just the one time couldn't be all that wrong, could it? But of course, she didn't think of him in that way, just as a big brother.

He let out a groan of frustration and a look of confusion spread across her face as she stood up and walked over to him. She stood in front of him for a while and he was tempted to put his arms around her waist, and hold her tight, and never let go. But he knew he couldn't, it was wrong to think that way.

"Is something the matter?" She asked, her eyes filled with worry.

"It's… It's nothing." He whispered, finding it hard to move the words past the lump in his throat.

"No. There's something." She persisted. "What's wrong?"

"It's just that. That. No. I can't it's… not right."

"Please. If you tell me your secret, I'll tell you mine." She murmured, looking down at the floor when a blush tinged her face.

"Your secret couldn't come anywhere close to mine."

"You don't know that."

"Then what is it?" He asked, humouring her, he could never really tell her about his feelings unless he knew that she felt the same. And even then it would still be wrong, no matter what he told himself.

"I love you." Her words took his breath away and for a long time he just stood there looking at her, not saying a word until she started to turn away from him, tears in her eyes as she thought that he didn't return her feelings.

"Wait." He whispered. She turned around, her expression soft, open, waiting. He closed the gap that had grown between them and wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her close to him before leaning down and whispering in her ear, "I love you too."

There was a silence then, a silence that neither being felt needed to be shattered, for the silence was filled with so many things, words unspoken, feelings never acted upon and the strong passion that sat between them. Neither of them spoke as they kissed, softly, tenderly and then passionately, fiery. The night wore on as they found an empty room and spent the rest of it together; their love like none either had ever felt before. And in the morning when they woke they went on with their lives as if nothing had happened, though both kept the strong feelings for each other. And maybe those feelings would have been acted upon further if the war hadn't torn them apart, for not three days after this encounter she was taken away to find horcruxs and he had to continue with his job until the Battle of Hogwarts where they met again, but only briefly before she saw him die, saw him die and knew that she couldn't stop it.

As she paid her respects at his funeral no one thought her tears out of place, not in a room full of mourners. And she was free to cry for the one man whom she had loved from the moment she first saw him and whom she had only been able to spend one night with, a night she would cherish forever.
