dedicated to for that smile.
You know him as well as yourself.
You've fallen for his smile, and they lie scattered on your skin, better than any plaster meant to fix you. And you wonder if you can see his pretty smile again, one that was made just for you; because you know that he is a master at this, and finding the correct smile to wear is an art that takes many years of practise.
You know that he's full of smiles, some for Kurogane-san, some for Syaoran-kun, some for the boy who looks but isn't Syaoran-kun, some for Moko-chan and… some for you.
Glass smiles, broken smiles, fragile smiles, gentle smiles… he hides them all in his pocket, in the hidden corner of his sleeve, in between his slender fingers and behind a golden curl.
There's a smile for every occasion, and he finds the perfect one with ease.
But you know.
You know.
You know what's going to happen, and you know that you can't do anything to stop him… merely switch the intended victim.
You can't find the comfort they used to give.
There's an isolating sadness inside him, and he pushes you away no matter how hard you try to stay by his side.
Yet he keeps smiling… just for you, lips curving in hope of easing your burden… and never succeeding.
You want his smile to be for him, and let his demeanour slip and be real, thinking selfishly instead of kindly. You want him to break free from his curse, and save him. You want him to be true and real and forever yours, but the words falter on the tip of your tongue, as you gaze at him, torn between breaking down and letting him know everything and holding your tongue for a little longer, until all this is over, just a little longer…
All you say, all you can think, is that I want to see you smile again.
You want to see an honest, cheeky, mischievous grin that matches the sparkle in his eye and sweeps you off your feet and matches the grin that spreads onto your face.
A sheepish grin, a teasing smile, anything that shows the depth of his heart and his genuine emotions, that sends laughter aflutter in the air.
Maybe then you'll be able to brush away those dark memories inside him, his lonely interior and bring him days of sunshine, hand in hand.
One day. Someday.
He breaks your heart with one smile and mends it with another.
You don't realize that you're doing the same thing to him.
