She's been on edge all day. Her neighbours down the hall have been living loudly since 3AM and she can't relax. No matter what she does, her neighbours always get the better of her and she feels like she's about to snap.
She's been studying all week for her final that is worth more than she would care to think about, and all she wants is some peace and quiet to get her through the stressful endeavour. (She doesn't want to think about how her mother would react if she didn't get a good enough mark.)
She just needs quiet. It should not be this hard.
Beside her, a certain blonde watches her sigh and grunt in annoyance and scratch out mistakes harder than is necessary. He can tell she's annoyed because she's subconsciously scrunched her nose (but he doesn't tell her because he secretly likes that he's the only one who knows). She's run her fingers through her unruly red hair far too many times and he's already lost count. After she throws her quill down - which creates a small inky mess that she would much rather ignore - and closes her eyes to envision a beautiful sunset in hopes it will calm her down, he walks over to her, spins her chair around and picks her up effortlessly. Without a word he marches over to the kitchen while pressing chaste kisses on her lips and ignoring her pleas for him to put her down so she can study some more - "it's worth 50% of my mark, you know" - and places her gently on the kitchen counter.
She watches as he puts the kettle on the stove and prepares 2 cups of tea - one with nothing inside, and one with 2 creams and 2 and a quarter sugars. As the water boils he takes the time to hold her in his arms as she quietly and firmly wraps her arms around him too. He hears her sigh in contentment for the first time in 13 hours and he smiles. Not a smirk, mind you, a genuine smile that really only appears when she's around.
Afterward, she is able to quietly study in the silence of their bedroom, two rooms away from her neighbours and she thinks her tea may be too sweet, but she knows he did it on purpose anyway and she smiles.
A/N: Deary me, it's been quite a while since I was last on here and I sure have missed this site. This is just a small snippet I've come up with while I was undergoing much the same problems as the ones in the little fragment, but I hope to be writing longer stories soon. As always, thank you for reading, and please review!
