The sun rose high in the aqua blue skies of the Kalos region, and battle tower stood tall behind two teens walking the outskirts of Lumiouse city.

"Hey Ash?" A honey-blonde haired trainer, Serena, asked her raven haired companion, Ash.

"Mmmm?" Ash replied.

"Who did you travel with in Kanto?"

Ash awkwardly put his hand behind his head.

"Ehh, well, I traveled with Brock and" Ash paused slightly "Misty" he concluded.

Serena motioned for him to continue.

"Brock was a gym leader, but his dream was to become a nurse. He is quite good, to be honest. Saved me from my hunger heaps!" Ash laughed and Serena smiled typically.

"What about Misty?" she pressed after Ash had finished.

"Misty, well, umm" Ash coughed, seemingly trying to delay. " Well, Misty is kind of hard to explain. She was a water type trainer, and cared heaps for most Pokémon, maybe except for bug types. Which generated a problem because my first Pokémon was a Caterpie." Ash smiled.

She seems nice... Thought Serena. She gestured for him to continue.

"I met her on my first day as a trainer, and I was in quite a pickle. A herd of angry Spearow were chasing me and Pikachu, and I kinda stole her bike to get away from the Spearow. I got rid of them in the end, and she insisted in following me until I bought her a new bike. She was always useful for things, like when she remembered her model of the S. and we were able to navigate the passageways, and her knowledge of water-type Pokémon always turned out useful. Plus, she had some pretty badass Pokémon, like Starmie and Gyarados. She also found a cool Togepi egg, who's Metronome proved useful many times." Ash's eyes seemed glazed, remembering his times with Misty, both good and bad.

"And?" pushed Serena.

"Well, we got into arguments a lot, but Brock always intervened before it got serious. We had good times, traveling throughout both Kanto and Johto." Ash stopped talking.

Serena nudged him."When did you say goodbye?" she asked.

"It was sad seeing my two closest friends go. I had to go to Hoenn, Brock was going to pursue his dream as a nurse, and Misty had to get back to her three sisters running the Cerulean city gym in Kanto. In the end, her red bike was repaired. I could never forget that final day, when I realised that..." Ash paused for a bit " I loved Misty Waterflower" He said in a small whisper.

It hit Serena like an angry Golem. She began to sob, and ran away in tears, leaving Ash confused. He tried run after her, and realized the only place he could get to without a map was battle tower.

How could Serena not have realised earlier, the way he paused before saying her name, and how he got a bit nervous when she asked him.

Ash stood alone in the square, wondering what he had done wrong

*Time skip*

The next morning, Ash switched on the TV at Clemont and Bonnies' place.

After a night of restlessly looking for his friend, Ash decided to give up.

On the TV, however, he found no answers.

"A body has been found and investigated." the man on the news coughed and said: "Serena Yvonne has commited suicide."
