Title: Presence
Characters: Wally, his and Artemis's dog, and mentions of Artemis.
Pairings: SPITFIRE

Notes: Done for the 30 Day Drabble Challenge; Day 8. I felt compelled to write Spitfire because-*glares at Tumblr*
Prompt: Companion.
Disclaimer: Nope, characters not mine.
Wally couldn't sleep.
How could he? He tossed and turned on the queen-sized bed, the empty space beside him seemed to echo loud in his ears. He closed his eyes and tried to settle the curdling feeling in his stomach.
Guilt, anger, and absolute fear weighed heavy in his heart. He knows he shouldn't worry about Artemis- She's Artemis, duh- but she's also the love of his life. As cheesy as it sounded, it was also true. How else could he explain the hollow feeling in his gut in her absence?
Her smile, her scent, her kisses, her presence. He missed it all too much, too soon.
He opened his eyes as he felt the bed shift all of a sudden. He turned his head to the side and watched as their dog struggled to get up on the bed and settle himself on Artemis's side of the bed.
Okay, maybe not completely alone.
Wally turned on his side completely and slid closer to his new companion. His heavy heart eased a bit, just a bit, knowing someone Artemis held as dearly as himself was with him.
The dog only looked at the redhead as if he knew what happened. As if he knew what his master was going through. As if he knew he wouldn't be seeing his mistress for a while. He only whined and nudged Wally's hand that laid beside him.
Wally scratched the dog's ears and murmured, "Thanks, Nelson. You're a good dog."
A/N: Nelson was the most popular name for their dog, according to Tumblr. Speaking of which, ugh. WARNING: MINI-RANT AHEAD TURN BACK NOW. Anybody else tired of the pairing wars? Because I am. It's like Naruto all over again except worse because people are actually bashing Greg. Sorry but without Greg, you won't have Young Justice. He deserves thanks and respect, not your bullshit. Creator/Writer-hate is the lowest form of fandom issues.
