Conner sat exhausted on the floor of the Fortress of Solitude exhausted. The fight with Superboy Prime had taxed him.
He hadn't even had time to think when he burst out of the chamber. He remembered one minute being lying in Cassie's arms and the next he sees Superboy Prime at the Fortress of Solitude. He hadn't even realized it was the future. Not until one of the Brainiac's told him.
He saw Superboy Prime and reacted. It had been a hard fight and he knew if Superman, Saturn Girl, and the others hadn't come they might not have won the fight.
A hand landed on his shoulder. He looked up to see Clark standing there looking almost as weary as he felt.
"How are you doing?" Clark asked.
"Exhausted but I'm okay." He said.
Clark smiled and nodded. "I bet."
There was a pause of silence.
"I'm so glad to see you." Clark said.
Conner didn't say anything. His mid was still wrapping around everything. He had been dead, but he was alive again thanks to the Kryptonian Healing Chamber and a lock of Lex Luthor's Hair. The Legion was in shambles all around them. But yet he was alive.
"Conner," Clark said deciding to ask the question he had been wondering. "Would you have killed Superboy Prime?"
"I don't know." Conner said with a sigh. "I..." He wasn't sure how to answer that question. "I was mad. He had killed me and he had killed others..." He trailed off.
"I understand Conner." Clark said. "But you didn't and that's important."
Bart came up to them then. "I'm leaving to go back to the past." He said with his usual smile.
Clark found it almost unsettling to see both of the alive and well. It had been a hard few years but now he was seeing Superboy and Kid Flash almost like before the big crisis happened.
"So are you going to come?" Bart asked looking at both of them expectantly.
"I can't." Conner said looking down. "I'm still dead back then." He had heard from the Brainiac's how everything had happened right after the fight and they told him he couldn't be in the past with his body healing. It would mess things up for the past and the future.
"But Tim and Cassie..." The look on Clark's face stopped Bart. He looked at the ground.
Conner slowly and painfully got to his feet. He wanted to go home so badly but he couldn't.
"Let's go talk to Starman." Clark said. "Maybe he has a suggestion."
