Chapter One: I Find A Camp
With sweat beaded across my forehead, I continued to sprint, running away from the monster that was advancing on me. It reminded me of a monster I learned in my Latin class- the Laestrygonians. I was currently running towards a huge hill, in hopes of getting away from the Laestrygonians. They were taunting me, throwing huge fireballs that I nearly dodged over and over.
I risked to look back, just to see them still rampaging after me, without breaking a sweat. I sighed deeply, the sound getting lost in the wind. My thin winter coat was barely enough to keep me warm. The boots I wore didn't help me aswell, it just slowed me down, and I still had numbing in the toes. I flexed my leg muscles, gaining a few more feet.
Almost there, I kept thinking. I decided I could probably not lose them, so I stopped running and turned around. The Laestrygonians were grinning nastily to themselves. I panted, trying to gain back my breath, plus the stomach I lost a while back. I pulled a medium sized stick from the ground, but it probably wasn't enough. I took a deep breath, and ran towards them, stick in hand, prepared for a battle.
Apparently though, the Laestrygonians seemed to disappear, leaving behind a pile of golden dust.
Had I imagined the whole thing?
I walked cautiously up the dust, and touched it. It felt like normal sand, so I let it get lost into the wind. I stayed there for a few minutes, freezing in my boots, thin socks, light jacket, jeans, and a thin purple shirt. I turned around, and continued heading towards the hill.
Once I reached the top of the hill, I looked back. I realized I just ran through a strawberry-picking field.
Woops.
I turned back around, and to my surprise, a person was jogging up here. The girl had blond hair and intimidating grey eyes. She wore a orange shirt and grey pants, along with a pair of boots. She seemed to be focused on me, and analyzing my every move.
"Hello?" I called down to the girl.
She broke her gaze for a second, then just returned to what she was doing. I decided to walk down the hill to meet her. So, we met in the middle.
"Who are you?" The girl asked.
"I'm Hope Leppert." I replied.
"I'm Bella. Come along, we better get you inside Camp."
"What?" I asked.
"You'll see." She said, smirking at me.
