He sat alone in the tardis library, eyes closed. He was deep in thought, his memories and emotions threatening to consume him. He didn't even notice someone making contact with him.

Doctor, the voice said softly.

He straightened up at his name and turned to look around before realizing where the voice was coming from.

In here. No need to be worried.

"What are you doing here?" He asked, recognizing the other man immediately.

I'm here to comfort you. Your face is so young, yet you've seen things I haven't even imagined yet.

"Yes, I am rather old, aren't I?" He asked dryly.

That's not my point, the other man said patiently. You were once just a bitter old man going through a midlife crisis, showing your granddaughter the universe, seeking affirmation of your ability. But now, now you're a hero. You've made the rest of us so proud.

"I'm not a hero." He said quietly. "They are. All the ones I've travelled with and lost. All the ones who have died because I couldn't save them. They are the heroes."

Yes, and we must never forget them, but that doesn't mean we can't move on. Take a look at you now, Doctor. You have a purpose now, to find Gallifrey, you have friends, and most importantly, you have an impossible girl who loves you.

At this the Doctor blushed a bright, crimson red. "We- no -it's not ..."

Oh hush now boy. I know it's hard, letting go of the ones you've loved before. Sarah Jane, Romana, Rose, River, they will always be in our hearts. But they're gone. It's time to open yourself up again. Go to Clara, and tell her before you lose her. Travel with her, save planets and find ours, but do it with love in your hearts, not angst.

The Doctor nodded his head slowly before whispering out loud, "Thank you …Doctor."

With his words of advice to think upon, the Doctor ran to the console room and flew straight to Wednesday. He had to do something that couldn't wait any longer
