Pre-Relationship

Saturday

Sara Sidle rushed through the halls of the Las Vergas Crime Lab. She didn't need to look at her watch to know that she was late. Like they say: When it rains, it pours.

Finally reaching the break room she found that indeed her colleagues were already there.

"Sorry, guys. I just seem to have no luck today."

"Really?" Catherine asked looking at the two bags that Sara was trying to hide.

"Don't worry Sara, you're not too late", Grissom interfered. She smiled back gratefully

"Is your air conditioning working again?" Nick tried to change the topic.

Sara shook her head. In fact, that's how it started in the first place.

Flashback - Earlier this day

The inhabitants of the apartment-complex were presented an uncommon sight. Sara Sidle at the pool. However, she wasn't there voluntary. It had all started with some simple repair-works in her apartment. Or so her housekeeper said.

When she was offered the Friday afternoon for her appointment, she should have rejected right away. Experience had taught her that one should never have craftsperson-works on a Friday. If it wasn't finished by then or something went wrong, the whole weekend would lie ahead. Without an outlook on help.

And that's exactly what happened. The newly repaired air-conditioning simply didn't work as Sara came home on Saturday morning. It was hot and stifling and she tossed in bed back and forth getting no sleep at all.

Eventually she gave up.

The pool in the inner courtyard looked quite inviting and one could simply lie in the shadow she thought. So Sara grabbed a few magazines, her I pod, the cell phone and spent the next hours at the pool. After reading through all her magazines, she remembered the box with the crime novels that Greg talked her into. Ignoring her objections, he had put the box in her car and later the books vanished under her bed.

She could have a look at them tomorrow as well. Maybe the box included a few classics that she could talk about with Grissom. He was a big fan of Sherlock Holmes and Co. after all.

Actually, she could swim in the pool too. Unfortunately, it was too late for that today but maybe tomorrow.

She sighed. If only she could remember where she had put her bikini. She hadn't worn it for quite some time. Maybe it doesn't even fit anymore. The best would probably be to buy a new one, Sara thought and decided to drive to the next mall.

End of the flashback

Sara was grateful for Nick's attempt to distract from her, since she had absolutely no desire to share her story with the team.

"Grissom, you've got work for us?"

"Yes, at least indirectly. Warrick and Catherine, you'll be helping Sofia. The rest stays here and finishes the open cases. Questions?"

Not waiting for an answer he left the room, Warrick and Catherine following.

"So, Caribbean-dreams… Come on, Sara. What is in those bags?" Greg and Nick looked at her expectantly.

"O.K., guys. I bought myself a few things for the pool. Satisfied? That's all I'm telling you." With that she turned around and left the room. And collided with Grissom.

"Ah Sara. Could you help me with some paperwork?"

"Sure."

She beamed at him and he couldn't help but return her smile. Together they walked down the halls not noticing the looks of Greg and Nick.

"You've got to agree that these two are just strange."

Greg nodded agreeing.

"Hey, Sara forgot her bags. Want to take a look?"

Nick just stared at Greg.

"You can't be serious. She'll kill us if she finds out. Let's start with our work."

Grissom and Sara sat silently in his office and went through the files. After a while, he looked up.

"Are you all right without your air-conditioning? Can I help you somehow?"

She looked at Grissom. "No, I'm fine. It won't be for long anyway. And a few days at the pool may be a nice change."

"Really?" he asked mockingly.

"Of course. I'm wearing my new bikini, relax in a deck-chair, a drink in my hand and an old edition of Milne's "Red House Mystery." Can one ask for more?

Grissom swallowed. Sara in a bikini? A tempting thought. What else did she say again? Oh right, Milne.

"You can't stay in your corner of the forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes." I guess that's not what I should tell Sara.

„Red House Mystery? Wasn't there a review by Raymond Chandler?"

"Yeah, but before you ask, I haven't started yet. You know, I shouldn't be surprised that you know his crime novel. Although usually, people just remember his "Winnie the Puh" books."

"It's too bad. I'm sure he would have preferred to be appreciated for his other work too."

Sara nodded agreeing.

"I could tell you how I liked his book. If you're interested", she added shyly.

"Sure, that would be nice."

That were the last private words they changed. Shortly after, Grissom was called to a case and Sara worked on alone.

In the morning she left the office tired and drove home to catch some sleep. Afterwards she would go to the pool.

Before Grissom drove home, he made his usual round through the lab including the break room where he found Sara's bags. Curiously, he looked at them. Now that he knew what was in them they held a big fascination.

Damn, he thought. You can't see much. Maybe I should take the bags to my office and call Sara. She'll definitely need the bikini.

Actually, I could bring the bags over on my way home too. Maybe she'll have a look at it in my presence and I may get a glimpse of the bikini.

Gil Grissom, you are unbelievable. Be honest, you'd prefer for her to demonstrate the bikini on herself anyway.

Yeah, as if that would happen. Dream on, Grissom.

With a heavy sigh he reached for the phone and called Sara.

"Sara, I found your bags. I'll bring them over about noon. If that's all right with you, of course. I hope you'll get some sleep meanwhile. See you later.

Surprisingly Grissom's call didn't wake Sara. When she listened to the voice mail for the third time, she realized that he would be here soon. With her purchases. Strangely this didn't make her nervous. He would hand her the bags and leave right away. Nevertheless she didn't want him to think that she was waiting for him. So she grabbed her book and searched for a deck-chair in the shadow.

"Red House Mystery" began interesting. She felt herself immediately taken back to the English manor-house and forgot her surroundings completely.

Unsure, Grissom looked at his watch. Was Sara awake already? Or even sitting at the pool? He didn't want to arrive too early and miss that sight. Totally inappropriate, he thought. Maybe the heat didn't do him well. But even the small chance to see Sara in something other than her normal jeans was just too tempting.

He reached for the door knob and got out of the car. If he remembered correctly, there was an extra entrance to the inner courtyard with the pool.

After a few steps he reached the lattice gate from where he could look at the pool.

And just like he had hoped, Sara was already there. He stayed there and took in the view. Shorts and her hair in a pony tail, she looked so young. Too young for him?

He decided not to care about the age difference any longer.

"Sara", he made himself noticeable.

"Oh, Grissom. Is it that late already?" She was really surprised. Time passed by fast.

She got up and went to the gate.

"Hi."

She opened the door and was pleasantly surprised when Grissom stepped into the inner courtyard and walked with her to the deck- chair.

"I hope it's not too late."

Grissom took a seat in the chair next to her.

Sara shook her head. "No, the book really made me forget the time."

"So, you like it?"

"Oh yeah, it's really good. The atmosphere in the landlord is caught pretty well and all the mysteries. Oh, sorry. I totally forgot to offer you something. You want a drink? I'll get a quick change and bring you something."

She looked at him.

Grissom nodded his approval. Although he wanted- no, he should leave. But it was too late. Sara reached for the bags and went inside smiling.

Grissom took a deep breath. OK, so far so good. And what's the matter anyway. Nothing. Absolutely nothing, he assured himself.

Reaching her apartment, Sara emptied the bags on her bed. Now or never. She had bought enough clothes in the past for Grissom in vain. But not this time.

In a mood of generosity she bought a swim-suit and two bikinis. The swim-suit wasn't particular for Grissom. One of the bikinis was too normal as well. So she reached for the other one.

It was red, no not really red. More like a black and red ocean of flames. But especially eye-catching was the bikini panty. The boutique salesgirl convinced her that she had the right hips and she could only hope that Grissom would agree.

She started to change and then turned to the mirror.

Oh god, you would just have to pull at the straps and she would… She had to stop thinking about it; other women always wore those kind of things. Why not her too?

Sara went to the fridge and reached for two bottles of water. In only a few moments she would see Grissom's reaction.

Grissom looked at his watch. Was it really so hot or is it the fact that he would see Sara in a bikini. He took off his jacket and made himself comfortable. How long does it take to change in a bikini?

He reached for Sara's book. If he remembered correctly it didn't include desirable women in bikinis.

Finally, he heard a sound und turned around slowly to the stairs. He had prepared himself in his fantasies for her view but what he saw was completely different.

What exactly was she wearing? He never, in his whole life, saw something like this before. She was a personalised temptation.

A little out of breath Sara arrived next to Grissom's chair and offered him a bottle of water.

No reaction.

"Grissom? Is something wrong?"

He shook his head.

"You look…" he stammered.

"How do I look?" Sara asked carefully. "Do you like it?"

They looked at each other. Sara tried to read his mind while he wanted nothing more than to hide his feelings.

"I'm sorry, you seem to feel uncomfortable. I better change."

She turned away and wanted to hide in her apartment and forget about it all as soon as possible. What was she thinking after all?

"No Sara. Please stay."

Before she could react, he grabbed her arm and held her in place.

"Let me go." Sara's voice was trembling.

"No, I can't."

Without thinking he pulled Sara down in his lap. He softly reached for her cheek and whispered: "I can't let you go."

Sara held her breath. Never before has Grissom been so close. She felt his touches, heard his words. What does he mean?

"Grissom?"

He looked at her.

"I've never seen you like this before. The bikini- you look breathtaking. And don't tell me you don't know that."

She smiled at that.

"Well, I was hoping you would like it."

"Liking it, Miss Sidle? You want to hear a secret? I came hear with the hope to see you in the bikini."

"Really?" Sara asked with a hint of doubt.

"Yes, really. And I imagined you in a lot of ways but that is more than I ever expected."

"While talking about secrets. And I hope you won't get mad, I bought this bikini just for you. Recently you looked at me as if…I don't know. I just got the impression that you were really looking at me. At Sara, the woman. And I wanted to know for sure and thought now or never. So when I saw this bikini I bought it. And I was so afraid…"

Sara didn't come any further to tell what she was afraid of cause Grissom's kiss stopped her.

After a while he extracted himself from Sara and looked at her. Her eyes were still closed and only slowly, she opened them.

"Wow, Grissom. You've got a very effective method to silence me."

When Grissom arrived an hour ago he could have only hoped to see another side of Sara. But he didn't dare to dream of this situation. Sara sat in his lap, her arms around him, letting herself being kissed by him.

It was just wonderful. His hands wandered along her body. He hadn't touched so much warm skin for a long time.

This bikini. His hands stopped. He didn't feel any material. Slowly he opened his eyes. A bikini panty usually looked different, he thought. There were only straps at her side that could be easily loosened and then…

Grissom stopped his movements.

"Sara."

"Mmm."

"This bikini."

"You like it?"

"I think every man would like it."

"You think so?"

Sara stopped kissing him. What was Grissom trying to say?

"Sara, you really bought this bikini for me?"

She nodded.

Grissom took a deep breath.

"Would it be bold if I asked you to wear it just for me? When we're alone."

She looked at him questioning.

"Alone? It's a bikini for the beach, the pool. You're barely alone there."

„I know but I don't want other men to have certain ideas when they see you like this."

Now Sara had to laugh.

"You're cute. I don't think I could compete with the other beach beauties. But if it bothers you I'm going to wear it only when we're alone."

"Thanks."

After clearing that he felt immediately better.

"Sara, if I would pull on these straps…"

"Griss."

Sara slapped his hand playfully.

"What? We're alone."

"In a big courtyard? Who knows what happens behind the curtains."

They looked at each other and then along the apartments. Sara was right.

"Maybe we should go inside. We'd be alone there."

Sara looked at him thoughtful. Now that was something completely new about Grissom. He wanted to be alone with her. What a little bikini could do.

Wordless, she gave Grissom her well thumbed exemplar of "Red House Mystery". Milne's mysteries could wait, others were more important right now.

She grabbed her belongings, pushed the deck-chair to the side and slowly walked away. After some steps she turned around.

"Grissom, you're coming?"

He just nodded but left a distance between them. This way he had a better view at Sara's back and bottom.

Reaching the apartment, she put down the things on the table and waited for him. Her arousal at this point was indescribable.

What would happen? Had he changed his mind on the way to her apartment? Did she even understand his actions the right way? Would he…?

She didn't come any further with her mind-games. With a loud sound her door closed and Grissom stood right in front of her and kissed her.

"May I pull on these straps now?" he asked carefully.

Sara just nodded.

Slowly he loosened the straps of her bikini top and took in the form of her breasts. It was just like he imagined them to be in his fantasies. Not too big and not too small. Just perfect.

Sara waited for him to touch her, but he seemed to have other plans. Instead, he loosened the straps of her bikini-panty too which fell unnoticed to the floor.

Without any self-consciousness she let him look at her.

After some seconds his admiring look turned into pure passion.

Sara took his hand and led him to her bedroom. Before Grissom could say a word, she pushed him on the bed.

"Take off your clothes."

Grissom looked at her scoffingly.

"Griss, are you planning to sleep with me?"

He nodded.

"Good. I don't wanna hurry you but I will go insane if I can't touch you soon. And I don't wanna waste any time since we are expected at work in some hours.

"You're helping me?"

He didn't need to say that twice. Within seconds she had him undressed down to his jeans. When Sara reached for his belt, he stopped her hands and took off the pants by himself.

Now it was Sara, who stared at him and she liked what she saw. A lot.

She lay down on the bed and pointed to the space next to her.

Grissom layed down beside her and started with feather light touches. She was so soft and warm.

Sara closed her eyes und enjoyed what he did to her body. After a while he came closer.

"Sara, honey. Tell me what you want. Am I doing it right. Are you feeling okay?"

She traced with her leg along his body and smiled when she heard him groan.

"I think we're both doing fine."

"Good."

Grissom didn't want to waste any more time, his actions grew more and more passionate and his touches more intimate.

At first Sara wondered how he knew all the right places to touch her but after a while she gave in to her feelings he initiated in her.

Eventually she arched against him and Grissom could feel how ready she was for him, so he pulled her even closer. And when he lay on top, he entered her slowly.

Their eyes met and Grissom pushed as deep as he could.

Sara held her breath. She didn't want to lose control completely to be able to remember this moment later. But when he moved inside her she couldn't hold back any longer.

She didn't hear her moanings any longer, didn't notice how she left marks with her fingernails on his back. In her ears she heard a rustle and when Grissom brought her to her climax, she felt completely out of her body.

After a while she began to take in her surroundings again, listened to her breath and felt Grissom who was screaming her name and reaching his own climax.

She ran her hand softly along his back, kissed him and held him close when he tried to extract himself from her.

Grissom gave in. He was still inside her and wanted to keep this closeness as long as possible. His breath slowly returned to a normal speed and finally he could speak with his usual voice again.

"Sara, I'm too heavy for you."

"No, please stay like this."

"I'm not going anywhere", he said and rolled them both to their sides. And like that, bodies entwined, they layed there drifting off.

After a while, Sara opened her eyes. She didn't want to fall asleep and miss those moments. Maybe she never got the chance to see and touch Grissom like this again. That thought didn't leave her mind.

What if it was just a one time thing for him? Should she destroy the mood and ask him?

„Griss", she whispered.

Maybe he fell asleep. She would leave it then.

„Yes, honey."

Well, so it may be.

"How are you feeling?"

„Fantastic. And you?"

„I feel incredible. I've never felt like this before."

Grissom kissed her softly.

"Me too. Although I sense a but."

"Sorry, but I just have to ask. Was it a one time thing for you? The sex with me."

Suddenly Grissom was wide awake. Was it just sex for Sara? What does she want to hear?

„It was more than sex for me, Sara."

"Really?"

"Yes, I mean the sex was unbelievable. But mostly because I love you and for me love and sex belong together."

Sara closed her eyes for a moment. He loved her. She took his face in her hands and kissed him.

"Thank god, cause I love you too."

Then she had to smile. "You know, my closet still stores a lot of secrets."

„More bikinis?"

"No, that would be boring. But I've got some things I'd like to show you."

"Nothing about you is boring, Sara. But I'm looking forward to solving all your mysteries."

Sara looked at Grissom. "And I'm looking forward to solving yours."
