A/N: Got this idea from the Vampire Weekend song "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa". A few lyrics tucked in here and there. Otherwise, just a short fic focusing mainly on James and Lily because I feel like I don't write about them half as much as I should.
Do You Wanna Fly?
"Is the bed made?" Lily called up the stairs.
"Yes," a rough voice called back.
"And is you're sweater on?"
There was a pause and Remus would have sworn on his life it signaled James digging through his closet to find a sweater Lily would approve of.
"Yes!" James's exuberant shout was followed by his running down the stairs to show Lily his choice and beg for her approval.
She sighed and rolled her eyes. "You forgot the luggage."
"Oh." James pulled out his wand and summoned the luggage. "There we are!"
Remus snickered behind his hand. "Are you two ready to go?"
Lily shrugged apologetically. "Sorry. Is Sirius going to come by later to help you with the house?"
Remus frowned slightly. "He's been busy recently. Order work, you know…"
James nodded solemnly and waved his wand again, lifting the bags into the air so they could be carried easily to the car. Lily reflected Remus's frown and followed after him.
Before they stepped into the car, Lily wrapped her arms tightly around Remus and wished him luck watching the house. "We'll be back before the full moon, but if you start to feel overwhelmed, don't hesitate to call us. We can always find someone else."
Remus laughed and patted Lily on the back. "I can handle watering a few plants, I think. You two go and have some fun." He winked at James, then turned away when he saw him laugh, suddenly feeling horribly awkward. Lily scrunched up her face and patted him on the cheek before turning to open the car door.
"Good luck, mate," James said. "I'll owl Sirius and try to coerce him into helping you."
Remus waved his hands. "Really, there's no need. Come back soon, though, and have fun!"
James nodded happily and started the car. "We will," he said, grinning at Lily. She blushed and swatted at his arm playfully. Remus coughed and James pulled out of the driveway.
They waved to Remus once more and then pulled out a map for directions to the airport. "Take a left here, James."
"Got it," he said, signaling the cars behind him. "Ready to go fly with me in a big scary Muggle contraption?"
Lily laughed. "It's not that horrible. I've been in plenty of airplanes my whole life and nothing's happened to me. If we crash you can just conjure a big mattress for us to land in or something."
James paled. "Planes can crash?"
Lily mentally rolled her eyes. "We're going to be fine, James. We've fought Dark Wizards, I'm sure we can handle a few hours on a plane."
"If you say so, love."
"James! You missed our exit!"
Can you stay up to see the dawn?
