Author's Note: This story was originally published in 2015. I kind of got super busy and abandoned it (and reading manga in general). I recently finished the rest of Fairy Tail and got inspired to write again, so I'm restarting it from scratch to (somewhat) conform to canon, though I'm making the assumption that the 100-year quest only took a few weeks to a few months to complete here in order to not mess up the ages too badly. This chapter is just a little setup and isn't actually very relevant to the main plot (so feel free to skip it), hence its designation as a prologue, but this allows me to easily connect this story to a potential prequel/sequel if there is enough interest.

I do not own Fairy Tail, which belongs to Hiro Mashima.

"Now this is a story about how

My parents wed in this great town

And I'd like to take a minute, just sit right there

I'll tell you how they got married because of a drunken dare"

"Wow you're almost at a million views Nashi!" exclaimed Glacia Fullbuster. "Yeah, all the guys our age at Blue Pegasas are heads over heels for her." added Kaiya Redfox. Even the normally reserved Scarlet Fernandes tossed in her two cents: "I heard she's quite popular in Alvarez as well."

A couple of months ago, Jason from Sorcerer Magazine had walked by one day during Fairy Tail's weekly karaoke night as Nashi Dragneel was singing and heard her beautiful voice. He thought her voice was so cool that he had made a few phone calls, and Nashi had turned into one of the world's most beloved idols seemingly overnight. Having just returned from her performance at Hisui's New Years Royal Ball, she was just about done with having to interact with other human beings, and was not pleased to return home to find that three of her friends had invaded her hotel room.

Nashi sighed, knowing that she wouldn't be get to relax for at least a couple more hours. "Guys, stop watching my dumb music video," she complained, "and get outta here so I can relax."

Glacia completely ignored her and just kept talking. "Don't you think it's amazing that your video managed to get so many views in the hour since you released it at midnight?"

"Of course I do."

"Then why aren't you excited?"

"Because I hate royal ettiquette too much right now to give a damn, I'll celebrate tomorrow."

Kaiya pouted, and handed Nashi a glass of champagne. "C'mon, have a drink with us to celebrate, and to loosen up a bit. Being forced to wear a prissy white dress for a couple hours isn't a reason to be so grouchy on New Years."

Nashi begrudgingly accepted the drink and downed it in one gulp. "Alright, I can see that all three of you are more excited than when I took Happy to the fish market. What gives?"

"Well you see," started Scarlet, "we absolutely love the song and its lyrics," continued Kaiya, "and the story is just so cute that we absolutely have to hear the source material that inspired it!" finished Glacia.

Nashi groaned out loud. The start of her parents' relationship wasn't exactly the smoothest, and as much as she loved her friends, story time at 1 AM was not high on her list of things to do. "Are you kidding me? My mom directed a film on this!" She quickly found the movie for sale on her iLacrima and tapped the "purchase" button, and a small storage lacrima poofed into existence in her other hand.

"Here, watch this rom-com, it'll give you an idea of how much of a clusterfuck my parents' marriage was at the beginning." said Nashi as she tossed them the lacrima. "Now I'm off to see Wendy to see if she can fix the knots in my calves from wearing high heels for hours. You guys better be gone when I get back."

Her friends absentmindedly nodded as they had already inserted the storage lacrima into the wall-mounted display lacrima, and were currently watching a disclaimer drift across the screen. Knowing her words were most likely ignored, Nashi let out a small sigh as she closed the door.

OMAKE

Wendy didn't answer the door when it was knocked, so Nashi assumed she was asleep and started walking back. However, Nashi ran into Mirajane on the way back, who offered to massage her legs.

"Mmmmm that feels so good." moaned Nashi as Mira gently massaged her calves. "Harder please."

"Is that what you say to Akari when you visit Sabertooth?" Mira teased.

"We're j-just friends!" Nashi stuttered, as she vehemently tried to deny any romantic feelings she had for the eldest Eucliffe son, but that didn't stop the blush that rose to her cheeks, nor did it cause Mira's knowing smirk to go away.
